INJURIES

Gets seven carries in Week 12 win Ahmed had seven carries for 17 yards during Sunday's win over the Panthers. He also secured his only target for nine yards.
Impact Ahmed had his most carries since Week 8 during Sunday's convincing win, but he worked behind both Myles Gaskin and new backfield addition Phillip Lindsay. The reserve running back hasn't logged a single game this season with either 4.0 yards per carry or a touchdown.

Won't play Sunday Ahmed is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Impact With Ahmed inactive, Duke Johnson is slated make his debut with the Dolphins, presumably in a change-of-pace role behind Myles Gaskin, while Patrick Laird is also on hand in a complementary/reserve role.

Uninvolved again Ahmed had two carries for six yards during Thursday's 22-10 win over the Ravens. He also secured his lone target for nine yards.
Impact Ahmed once again played a reserve role behind Myles Gaskin, who carried the ball 14 times for just 31 yards (2.2 YPC) while securing one of two targets for 14 yards. Miami's substandard run blocking significantly limits the upside of all backfield options, though the Week 11 matchup against the Jets does present some opportunity. Of course, as Ahmed hasn't scored or logged double-digit carries a single time this season, he isn't in the mix for fantasy consideration.
NOVEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Barely utilized Week 9 Ahmed had four carries for six yards during the Dolphins' 17-9 win over the Texans on Sunday.
Impact Ahmed, as usual, was relegated to a clear backup role. Meanwhile, Myles Gaskin had 20 carries and six targets during Sunday's win, though he only racked up 34 rushing yards. Ahmed hasn't logged a single game with double-digit touches this season.
NOVEMBER 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Another inefficient outing Ahmed handled seven carries for 22 yards during Sunday's 26-11 loss to the Bills. He also secured one of two targets for six yards.
Impact Ahmed once again took a backseat to Myles Gaskin in terms of both rushing and receiving work. Through eight contests, Ahmed has yet to log a single game with at least 4.0 yards per carry, and he's still looking for his first touchdown of the year. Even with Malcolm Brown (hamstring) still sidelined and a plus matchup against the Texans on deck Week 9, Ahmed isn't a tempting fantasy option.

Involved again Week 7 Ahmed had seven carries for 26 yards during Sunday's 30-28 loss to Atlanta. He also caught both of his targets for 26 yards.
Impact Ahmed managed a season-high 56 scrimmage yards against Atlanta's vulnerable defense, though it was Myles Gaskin -- who had 67 rushing yards and a score -- who was once again the most productive backfield option. Part of the context for Ahmed's involvement was the fact that Malcolm Brown (hamstring) was forced out of Sunday's contest, but even before that, the second-year pro appeared to be operating as Miami's No. 2 running back. Of course, Ahmed is only on the fantasy radar in deep formats.
OCTOBER 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Leads team in carries Ahmed rushed seven times for 22 yards during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Jaguars.
Impact Ahmed saw more action on the ground than Myles Gaskin (five carries) or Malcolm Brown (five carries), but none of the trio was able to manage much in the way of production. He also caught one of two targets for 15 yards. On the season, Ahmed has yet to record a single game with at least 25 rushing yards.
OCTOBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Back in No. 2 role? Ahmed logged two carries for five yards and secured two of three targets for 16 yards during Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
Impact Miami's rushing attack was dominated by Tampa Bay's stout defensive front, but that didn't stop Myles Gaskin from accumulating 10 targets and two touchdowns through the air. Though Ahmed didn't turn in nearly as productive a fantasy day, he did appear to work ahead of Malcolm Brown (no touches) for the first time all season.
OCTOBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Records three carries Ahmed rushed three time for one yard and secured both of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Colts.
Impact Ahmed played a limited role for the Dolphins on a day when the team struggled to establish the run and keep up with the Colts. Surprisingly, Ahmed recorded one more carry than Miami's No. 1 running back Myles Gaskin. Malcolm Brown handled the most rushing work with eight rushing attempts. The running game in Miami is becoming an enigma, and the 22-year-old is not seeing enough volume on the ground or through the air to be considered a valuable fantasy option. An injury to Gaskin or Brown would be Ahmed's best chance to find fantasy relevance. A matchup against the Buccaneers' stout run defense awaits Miami in Week 5.
OCTOBER 6, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
No opportunities versus Raiders Ahmed did not handle a carry during Sunday's 31-28 overtime loss to the Raiders.
Impact Ahmed was also not targeted by Jacoby Brissett. After leading the Dolphins with six carries versus Buffalo in Week 2, in addition to drawing three targets, all the backfield work was handled by Myles Gaskin (13 rushes), Malcolm Brown (seven) and Brissett (seven) in Las Vegas. Barring a situation where either Gaskin or Brown misses time, Ahmed will be difficult to rely on for fantasy purposes.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Leads team in carries Ahmed had six carries for 17 yards during Sunday's 35-0 blowout loss to the Bills. He also failed to secure any of his three targets.
Impact Ahmed (2.8 YPC) technically handled more carries than either Myles Gaskin (5.0 YPC) or Malcolm Brown (4.2 YPC), who each rushed five times, but he was the least efficient backfield option of the trio. Nor is it encouraging that Ahmed couldn't get anything going on any of his three targets, though it may not be wise to make too much of a game in which Jacoby Brissett failed to move the Dolphins' offense in any respect. As long as both Gaskin and Brown remain healthy, it's hard to envision Ahmed handling more than single-digit offensive touches.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Plays limited role Ahmed recorded three carries for four yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Patriots. He also added two receptions for 24 yards.
Impact Ahmed finished the game with only 11 offensive snaps, behind the likes of both Myles Gaskin and Malcolm Brown. However, he provided the longest play amongst the trio when he managed an 18-yard gain on a reception midway through the first quarter. Ahmed is currently on the outside looking in for a meaningful role in the offense, but he will be a name to monitor should either Gaskin or Brown be forced to miss game action at any point this season.

SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 • MIAMIDOLPHINS.COM
Third in backfield pecking order Ahmed rushed twice for six yards and secured two of four targets for 19 yards in the Dolphins' 37-17 preseason win over the Falcons on Saturday night.
Impact Ahmed saw backfield mates Myles Gaskin and Malcolm Brown combine for 20 touches, leaving him as more of an afterthought in the ground attack for the night. However, while Brown wasn't targeted in the passing game, Ahmed at least enjoyed a solid role in that regard. The second-year back's usage was also notably less than that of his two teammates in the exhibition opener against the Bears, so Ahmed does seem headed for a No. 3 role that likely will only net single-digit carries on the majority of weeks while Gaskin and Brown are healthy.
AUGUST 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Engrained in three-man committee Coach Brian Flores mentioned Ahmed alongside Malcolm Brown and Myles Gaskin when describing the Dolphins' backfield plans, Barry Jackson and Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald repo...
Impact Ahmed and Gaskin both worked behind Brown during Saturday's preseason loss to Chicago. With regard to the regular season, though, Flores said that "Gaskin can play first, second, third down" but that Ahmed and Brown could be rotated in "depending on the situation." Flores clearly described Brown's role as "a power back" and Gaskins' "change of pace" skills, while keeping it vague by only praising Ahmed's "speed coming out of the backfield." That may indicate that Ahmed currently sits in the No. 3 spot, as was reflected in last weekend's preseason game. Still, the Dolphins' current backfield standings appear far from set in stone. The situation could even have the makings of the type of committee dreaded by fantasy managers, in which whoever has the hot hand on a particular week earns the bulk of opportunities.
AUGUST 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Leads team with 71 total yards Ahmed (lower body) took six carries for 40 yards and two catches for 31 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 20-13 preseason loss to Chicago.
Impact Ahmed looked healthy after dealing with an unspecified lower body injury earlier this month. He was the third running back into the game -- behind Malcom Brown and Myles Gaskin, in that order -- and finished as the team leader in total yards and the scorer of Miami's lone TD (from 22 yards out on a wheel route). Further down the depth chart, Patrick Laird and Gerrid Doaks combined for 13 yards, losing ground on Ahmed in the competition for the No. 3 role. That job looks a little more interesting after Brown worked ahead of Gaskin on Saturday, perhaps hinting at a competitive backfield rather than Gaskin being the clear starter.

Limited in practice Ahmed (lower body) remained limited at practice Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Ahmed followed the same routine as Tuesday, limited to individual drills while donning a non-contact jersey. He and Malcolm Brown seem to be competing for the No. 2 RB spot behind Myles Gaskin, though a poor summer could have Ahmed on the outside looking in when it comes time for roster cutdowns at the end of the preseason.
AUGUST 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Wearing non-contact jersey Ahmed (lower body) has a non-contact jersey for the first day of padded practice Tuesday, Ruthie Polinsky of NBC 6 reports.
Impact Ahmed left Monday's practice early with what's believed to be just a bruise, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Ahmed and Malcolm Brown seem to be competing for the No. 2 running back spot, while Myles Gaskin is expected to be the starter again.
AUGUST 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limps off practice field Ahmed (lower body) departed Monday's practice early with a noticeable limp, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Ahmed limped off the field after making a catch and was able to spend time on an exercise bike off to the side before heading indoors. The severity of Ahmed's injury remains unclear, but it was a non-contact issue. If Ahmed is forced to miss significant time, rookie seventh-round pick Gerrid Doaks will be in line for more reps behind Myles Gaskin and Malcolm Brown.
