Impact It's not immediately clear when Ahmed sustained the foot injury, but it's apparently severe enough to keep him off the field for at least the Dolphins' next four games. Until he's ready to come back, Jeff Wilson is likely to see more work between the tackles.

Impact Ahmed was ineffective against a stout Philadelphia defensive front, but it was notable to see him work as the next man up behind Raheem Mostert, even with Jeff Wilson making his season debut. That pecking order could shift as Wilson further distances himself from his health issues, but heading into a Week 8 matchup against New England, only Mostert is a sure bet for relevant volume.

Impact Ahmed worked behind Raheem Mostert (115 rushing yards and three total TDs) during Sunday's blowout win over the Panthers, though Chris Brooks (ankle) also handled six carries before being forced out during the fourth quarter. It looks probably Jeff Wilson (ribs) will healthy enough to make his season debut Week 8 against Philadelphia, though, and if operating at 100 percent, he would stand to work ahead of Ahmed as a complement to Mostert.

Staying put in Miami The Dolphins signed Ahmed to a one-year, $1.8 million contract Friday, Mike Masala of DolphinsWire reports.
Impact Ahmed is slated to remain in Miami for at least one more season while fellow running backs Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and Myles Gaskin are all in line to become unrestricted free agents come March 15. The 24-year-old has primarily operated as a part of a backfield committee throughout his first three years in the NFL, and he concluded this previous campaign with 21 touches for 120 combined rushing and receiving yards and one touchdown across 13 games.

Impact Ahmed saw slightly increased utilization during Miami's playoff loss with Raheem Mostert (thumb) unable to go. Through 12 regular-season appearances in 2022, Ahmed handled a total of 12 carries for 64 yards and one touchdown, while securing his only target for eight yards.
