Returns to Sunday's game Gage (head) was cleared to return to Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact Gage left briefly to be examined after a hard hit from Jamal Adams in the first half, but the receiver apparently cleared concussion protocol and returned to the game.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Having head examined Gage left Sunday's game against the Seahawks to be evaluated for a head injury, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact Late in the first half, Gage was banged-up and made a visit to the sideline tent, per Jason Butt of The Athletic. Considering a head injury was noted, Gage may be going through the concussion protocol to determine whether a return is possible. If he's unable to reenter the game, he'll finish Week 1 with five catches for 54 yards.

Puts in full practice Thursday Gage (groin) practiced fully Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Gage missed some time recently due to a groin injury, including being listed as limited at Wednesday's session, but the Falcons allowed him to handle every rep Thursday. Now ready to face the Seahawks on Sunday, he slots in as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.

Tending to groin issue Gage was limited at Wednesday's practice by a groin injury, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Gage missed the Falcons' scrimmage last Thursday but was able to get back on the field for Monday's session. While he did the same Wednesday, he clearly still has some limitations. Fortunately, he's made appearances in back-to-back practices and has two more chances to get back to full participation, at which point the team will peg his odds to suit up Sunday versus the Seahawks. If he plays, Gage will serve as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to practice Monday Gage (undisclosed) participated in Monday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Impact It's unclear if Gage practiced at full speed, but there doesn't seem to be much concern about his availability for Week 1 versus Seattle, and there will be more clarification when the first official injury report is released Wednesday. The 24-year-old is expected to lock down the No. 3 receiver role to begin the year and build off last year's 49-446-1 line.

Falcons make final cuts to set 53-man roster for opener

The Atlanta Falcons cut former first-round pick Laquon Treadwell and two quarterbacks as they got down to the 53-man roster limit for the regular season
SEPTEMBER 5, 2020 • Associated Press
Absent from practice Gage did not participate in Thursday's scrimmage, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Impact It remains to be seen whether Gage's absence was due to injury, but at this point there's no reason for concern about his availability for Sept. 13's season-opener against Seattle. Gage is the clear favorite to serve as Atlanta's No. 3 receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, though he'll also need to compete with Hayden Hurst and Todd Gurley for targets.

Falcons over/under: How many yards will Russell Gage get in 2020? Will the young receiver make the third year leap?
AUGUST 5, 2020 • THEFALCOHOLIC.COM
Expected to secure No. 3 WR role Gage is the favorite to serve as Atlanta's No. 3 option at wide receiver during 2020, Matthew Tabeek of the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact The offseason arrival of 2016 first-round draft choice Laquon Treadwell provides some competition to Gage, but the 24-year-old seems to be coming into his own, and he will be difficult for the newcomer Treadwell to supplant. Gage recorded five or more receptions over five of his final six outings to wrap up 2019, proving himself capable of replacing Mohamed Sanu, who'd been traded to the Patriots. If able to fend off Treadwell for the job during training camp, Gage will have an opportunity to build upon the strong second half he put forth as an NFL sophomore while working behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley as the third option at wide receiver.
