Julio Jones Injury Update Could be Massive Boost for Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage Fantasy Outlook in Week 5

Quiet night in Green Bay
Gage hauled in two of his three targets for 22 receiving yards during Monday's 30-16 loss to the Packers.
Impact
Perhaps because he exited Atlanta's Week 3 loss to Chicago with a concussion, the third-year receiver was eased back into the mix against Green Bay on Monday night. That may explain the fact that Olamide Zaccheaus, who is typically No. 4 on the WR depth chart, tripled Gage in targets Week 4. With Julio Jones (hamstring) having exited Monday's contest because of injury, Gage may remain a top two or three wideout option for the Falcons heading into a matchup against Carolina's seventh-ranked pass defense.

All set for Monday
Gage (concussion) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's matchup against the Packers, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact
This reinforces Gage's practice status over the past two days after the wide receiver left the Week 4 contest early with a concussion. Both Calvin Ridley (ankle/calf) and Julio Jones (hamstring) were listed as limited participants in Saturday's practice, although the fact both are considered questionable for Monday bodes well for the Falcons having their full arsenal available in the prime-time matchup.

Upgrades to full practice Friday
Gage (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
The Falcons haven't yet announced that Gage has cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol, but it appears as though he's at least progressed to the later stages. Julio Jones (hamstring) and Calvin Ridley (ankle/calf) were both limited participants in Friday's practice, but it looks as though all three starting wideouts have a fair shot at getting healthy enough to suit up in Green Bay on Monday. Of course, Gage will need to attain full medical clearance before he's able to retake the field.

Limited in first Week 4 practice
Gage (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact
Gage exited the Falcons' 30-26 loss to the Bears over the weekend with the head injury, but his presence on the field in any capacity four days later indicates that he's made some progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. Along with Gage, fellow starting wideouts Julio Jones (hamstring, limited participant) and Calvin Ridley (ankle, non-participant) were on the Falcons' initial Week 4 injury report, but all three seemingly have realistic hopes of gaining clearance for Monday's game against the Packers.

Done for day
Gage had been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game versus the Bears due to a head injury, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact
While it hasn't been confirmed, Gage is expected to have a concussion. With Julio Jones (hamstring) already sidelined, Christian Blake, Olamide Zaccheaus and Brandon Powell should all handle a decent workload the rest of the game.

Exits Sunday's game
Gage is being evaluated for a possible head injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bears, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact
With Gage iffy to return and Julio Jones (hamstring) already inactive, the Falcons' top options at wideout are currently Calvin Ridley, Christian Blake and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Keeps momentum going Week 2
Gage caught six of his nine targets for 46 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 40-39 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact
If Gage's involvement over the latter stages of 2019 wasn't convincing enough to consider him a legitimate fantasy pickup in drafts, Weeks 1 and 2 have gone a long way toward changing that stance. Gage attracted eight targets per game Weeks 12 through 17 last year, though part of that can be explained away by the fact that Calvin Ridley missed three games during that span with an abdominal injury. However, with Ridley back in the lineup to kick off the 2020 campaign, Gage is continuing to be a fantasy presence, having accumulated an outstanding 21 targets over the first two weeks of the year and translating those opportunities into 15 catches, 160 receiving yards and a touchdown. The third-year receiver now draws a matchup against a Bears defense that refused to allow a single Giants wideout to eclipse 50 yards Sunday.

Huge Week 1 against Seattle
Gage corralled nine of 12 targets for a career-high 114 receiving yards during Sunday's 38-25 loss to the Seahawks.
Impact
Gage picked up right where he left off at the tail-end of 2019 when he filled in as the No. 2 option at wide receiver, as Calvin Ridley missed three games with an abdomen injury. The former LSU Tiger averaged eight targets per game between Weeks 12 and 17 last year, and he demonstrated a high PPR floor during that span in collecting 32 total catches. Gage owns just one touchdown on 68 offensive touches for his career, but as long as he is the No. 3 receiver in Atlanta's passing game he will remain fantasy relevant. The 24-year-old projects to be a popular waiver-wire pickup based on both opportunity and talent, as he prepares for a Week 2 matchup against the Cowboys.
