INJURIES

Five receptions Sunday Hines had five receptions on six targets for 27 yards in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
Impact Hines played 21 snaps on offense compared to just four snaps for Jordan Wilkins as the Colts turned to the passing game after falling behind early. Hines should continue to get more work as Jonathan Taylor's backup when the Colts need to pass, with Wilkins used more when Taylor needs a break carrying the ball.

Has five touches Sunday Hines had three carries for eight yards and two receptions for 22 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Cleveland.
Impact Hines played on 21 of the offense's 56 snaps and ran a route on 18 of the offense's 37 pass plays, according to Pro Football Focus. He got more playing time than Jordan Wilkins (just two snaps) with the Colts needing to throw the ball after throwing behind. However, the Colts couldn't get much going on the ground and gave the bulk of playing time to Jonathan Taylor (31 snaps) after a more even distribution of snaps last week.

Totals 32 yards Hines carried the ball nine times for 24 yards in Week 4 against the Bears. He added three receptions for eight yards.
Impact Hines wasn't heavily utilized in the offense, as Jordan Wilkins matched his nine carries. He did provide a spark to the offense on a drive late in the first quarter, recording a rush and reception of 12 and 15 yards, respectively. The Colts have shown a willingness to employ a run-heavy approach early this season as they've often led games. While that's led to three victories, it is not conducive to Hines' success, which comes primarily as a receiver with the chance to work in the open field.

Practices fully Hines (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday.
Impact He's thus slated to handle his usual change-of-pace role Sunday against the Bears, but given that both top back Jonathan Taylor and Jordan Wilkins are also in the mix for carries, Hines' weekly fantasy prospects hinge on his involvement in Indy's passing game. The 2018 fourth-rounder has parlayed his 14 targets through three games into 13 catches for 89 yards and a TD. He's also carried 14 times for 49 yards and a rushing score in that span.

Limited with shoulder issue Hines was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury.
Impact Hines likely picked up the injury in Sunday's win over the Jets, but the fact that he was able to at least partially participate in practice is encouraging for his chances of playing Week 4 in Chicago. He'll have two more chances to ramp up his on-field activity before the Colts are decide whether he'll carry an injury designation into the weekend.

Eleven touches in big win Hines carried the ball seven times for 21 yards and caught four of five targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 36-7 win over the Jets.
Impact After scoring twice on 15 touches in the Colts' opener and then getting only one reception last week, Hines found something of a happy medium between those two extremes. The scatback actually led the team in targets on a day when the passing game wasn't really needed, which bodes well for his developing connection with Philip Rivers. Hines might be on the back burner again behind Jonathan Taylor in Week 4, however, on the road against a Bears defense that just got gashed for 148 rushing yards and two TDs by Atlanta.

Limited role Sunday Hines had one reception for four yards and no carries in Sunday's win over Minnesota.
Impact Hines played just nine snaps while Jonathan Taylor played 49 snaps and Jordan Wilkins played 17 snaps (rushing for 40 yards). Hines' usage is a bit confounding, but it's likely just a byproduct of a game that became a rout in the second half and the Colts decided to use Wilkins to run out the clock. Sunday's game more likely highlights how Taylor is set to get the bulk of work with Hines in a more limited backup role than many expected. Hines should still have a larger workload in games where the team needs to make more throws to running backs.

Impact Hines had two touchdowns (one receiving and one rushing) in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars as he had a larger role than expected even when Mack was healthy. He'll now be the No. 2 running back and could get the vast majority of receptions on passing downs, though Taylor looked sharp in the passing game Sunday (where he struggled at times in college).

Finds end zone twice Hines carried the ball seven times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Jaguars. He added eight receptions for 45 yards and another score.
Impact Hines accounted for the first two scores of the Colts' season. His first touchdown came on a 12-yard scamper early in the first quarter. He followed that up one quarter later with an eight-yard reception to find the end zone. His heavy involvement in the passing game was little surprise, and he should have the chance to maintain -- or even augment -- his rushing role in Week 2 against the Vikings with Marlon Mack (Achilles) almost certain to be absent.
