INJURIES

The harrowing accident that almost ended an NFL player's career Nyheim Hines was trying to help out his friends and ended up losing a year in the prime of his career.
APRIL 28 • NYTIMES.COM
Time in Cleveland ends Miller-Hines was released by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston Reports.
Impact Miller-Hines was expected to be able to return from an ACL tear at some point during the 2024 campaign but that never came to fruition, and he finished the season on injured reserve. He'll likely find a new opportunity in 2025 if he can prove himself healthy.
FEBRUARY 18 • ROTOWIRE
Done for year Hines (knee) will remain sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hines had his 21-day practice window expire Wednesday, failing to be added to the active roster before it's conclusion. The running back is still working his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered in July of 2023 and he'll now shift his focus to being ready to go for next season.
OCTOBER 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play vs. Ravens Coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that Hines (knee) is out for Week 8 versus Baltimore, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hines participated fully in practice ahead of Week 7 but ultimately didn't suit up for that contest either, so it's possible injury alone can't fully explain why he isn't active yet. After the long-awaited return of starter Nick Chubb, the Browns now already have four running backs on their active roster, so even if Hines works his way back into the mix soon, he won't be on the fantasy radar for most formats.
OCTOBER 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Not active for Week 7 Hines (knee) was not activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Impact Hines was a full participant in all three practices this week, but he will remain sidelined while in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in July of 2023. Because his practice window opened Oct. 2, the Browns will need to activate Hines off injured reserve by Wednesday, otherwise he will remain on IR for the rest of the 2024 season. Even without Hines and Jerome Ford (hamstring) for Sunday's game, the Browns are expecting Nick Chubb (knee) to be active, and he will lead the three-man backfield that includes D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong.
OCTOBER 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Not likely to play this week Hines (knee) is listed as questionablefor Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Impact Hines, who remains on the non-football injury list, practiced fully this week, but Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN relays that coach Kevin Stefanski noted Friday that Hines is unlikely to play this weekend. With Jerome Ford out with a hamstring injury, Nick Chubb (knee) is expected to return to action Sunday, joining a Cleveland backfield that also includes D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong.
OCTOBER 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Could return in Week 7? Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Wednesday that Hines (knee) is doing "very well," Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hines has yet to play this season after being placed on the Browns' non-football injury list in late August. However, he was designated to return on Oct. 2 and has practiced in a limited fashion since. The veteran running back has until Oct. 23 to be activated to Cleveland's active roster before reverting to the non-football injury list, but Stefanski's comments Wednesday suggest that Hines will likely return for the Browns' Week 7 matchup against the Bengals.
OCTOBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Sidelined another week Hines (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hines was designated to return from Cleveland's non-football injury list on Oct. 2 and has been practicing in a limited fashion since. However, it appears the veteran running back is still not ready for in-game action just yet. Expect D'Onta Foreman (ankle) and Pierre Strong (hamstring) to serve as the Browns' top backup running backs behind Jerome Ford in Week 6.
OCTOBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Week 5 Hines (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Washington, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact Hines remains on the reserve/NFI list but had his 21-day practice window opened this week. He'll have a couple more weeks to get ready. With Nick Chubb (knee, PUP) still working his way back, the Browns will continue to roll with Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman at least one more week.
OCTOBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Limited Thursday Hines (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Hines, who was designated to return from the non-football injury list earlier this week, was limited for a second consecutive day. It's unlikely he'll be ready to go for Sunday's road game against the Commanders.
OCTOBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Puts in limited practice Hines (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Impact The Browns received a jolt Wednesday with both Hines and Nick Chubb (knee) back on the practice field. It's unclear if either will be ready to help the league's 26th-ranked rushing offense (94.8 yards per game) in time for a Week 5 matchup against Washington. In addition to Hines and Chubb, Pierre Strong (hamstring) was back on the field Wednesday.
OCTOBER 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Returning to practice Hines (knee) was designated to return from the non-football injury list Wednesday.
Impact Hines has been out of action since the summer of 2023 when he suffered an ACL tear after being hit by a jet ski. However, he'll now be able to return to the practice field. Considering the time the NC State product has missed, it's highly unlikely he would play as soon as Sunday against the Commanders, but he'll be able to continue getting back up to speed with the team for up to 21 days before a decision on whether to activate him to the 53-man roster has to be made.
OCTOBER 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Getting close to return Hines (knee) is expected to be designated to return from the non-football injury list this week, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Impact Hines has been out of action since last summer when he suffered an ACL tear after being hit by a jet ski. However, once he's designated to return, he'll be able to practice with the team, which should happen this week, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. It's unlikely, considering the time the NC State product has missed, that he would play as soon as Sunday against the Commanders, but he'll be able to continue getting back up to speed with the team for three weeks before needing to be placed on the 53-man roster.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Out until at least Week 5 Hines (knee) will open the regular season on the non-football injury list and miss a minimum of four games, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact Hines suffered an ACL tear last July when he was struck by a jet ski, costing him all of the 2023 season and now part of 2023. It's unclear if he'll have significant role once he's deemed healthy enough to play, but there's at least some chance he eventually becomes a pass-catching back and return man for the Browns this year. Hines hasn't practiced this summer and won't be eligible to play any sooner than Oct. 6 against Washington.
AUGUST 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Progressing through recovery Hines is making progress in recovering from the ACL injury that kept him out for the entire 2023 season, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.
Impact Hines hasn't suited up for game action since the 2022 season, and there's still no concrete timetable for his return. But Coach Kevin Stefanski struck an optimistic tone Tuesday, saying "he's doing well and progressing well." Even when he's at 100 percent though, he'll have to fight to earn a spot on Cleveland's running back depth chart.
AUGUST 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on NFI list The Browns placed Hines (knee) on the active/non-football injury list Wednesday.
Impact Hines said earlier this offseason that he anticipated being ready for training camp, so it's possible he won't spend much time on the NFI list before passing his physical. The pass-catching specialist is working his way back from a left ACL tear suffered last August, once healthy he figures to compete for a role on special teams and in third-down scenarios. Nick Chubb (knee) started camp on the active/PUP list and remains without a timetable for return, so Hines could have a real opportunity alongside Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman in this backfield, health permitting.

Expects to be ready for camp Hines (knee) said Tuesday he expects to be ready for training camp, Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland reports.
Impact Hines underwent surgery to repair his left ACL last August, then was released by the Bills in March after missing the entire 2023 season. Assuming he's indeed able to get back to full health by the start of training camp, Hines should have a solid chance to compete for a third down role out of the backfield while also contributing in the return game. With Nick Chubb (knee) working his way back from an ACL tear of his own and no guarantee to be ready for Week 1, Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman figure to work alongside Hines as Cleveland's top backs during training camp.
