Impact The second-year tight end made his touches count against the Titans, collecting 15-plus receiving yards or a touchdown on four of his five receptions. Fant demonstrated big-play ability as a rookie in racking up 14.1 yards per catch, second only to New Orleans' Jared Cook (16.4) among NFL tight ends last year. The key to Fant unlocking a magical fantasy season, however, may come via the touchdown, as he collected just three last year on 66 targets. Week 1's outcome is encouraging in that regard, but now he prepares for a matchup against a Steelers defense that contained Evan Engram to two catches for nine yards in its first appearance of 2020.

Impact Much has been made of what new weaponry including Melvin Gordon, Jerry Jeudy, and KJ Hamler can do for the Broncos' offense and Drew Lock's first full season. But, with a year of development, Fant should have every opportunity to be the second major threat in the passing game behind Courtland Sutton. Fant finished second on the team in receiving yards (562), targets (66), and touchdowns (three) as a rookie. He faded down the stretch, however, and -- despite a monster 113-yard performance against Houston in Week 14 -- Fant saw his targets per game drop sharply once Lock entered the fold in Week 13, 4.7 to 2.8. Shurmur has experience with athletic tight ends from his time with Evan Engram in New York and, with improved chemistry with Lock, there is reason to be optimistic about Fant's sophomore campaign.

Impact Heuerman's exit seemed inevitable back in March as Vannett's signing tied up a fair amount of money in two reserve tight ends. Cutting Heuerman had less cap repercussions. Vannett is a good bet to make the roster as a TE2 or TE3, but he is unlikely to be a big factor fantasy-wise. Both 2019 first-round pick Noah Fant and 2020 fourth-rounder Albert Okwuegbunam figure to be more involved in the passing game than the veteran, who is the superior blocker.
