NFL Injury Report: Updates on Michael Gallup, Derrick Henry, more

Officially hits injured reserve Dallas placed Gallup (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Impact Gallup's move to IR was fully expected after the Cowboys confirmed the receiver suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. The injury will sideline Gallup through the entirety of Dallas' run through the postseason and leaves his availability for training camp and the start of the 2022 season up in the air. CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper sit as the clear top two wideouts with Gallup sidelined, while Cedrick Wilson is expected to step into a larger role moving forward as the No. 3 receiver.

Torn ACL confirmed Gallup underwent an MRI on Monday that confirmed that he suffered a clean ACL tear in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact Gallup will miss the remainder of the season as a result of his injury, but he's expected to make a full recovery. The 25-year-old appeared in eight games for the Cowboys during the 2021 campaign and secured 32 of 58 targets for 409 yards and a touchdown. Gallup is slated to become a free agent during the offseason after spending his first four professional seasons in Dallas.

Impact A torn ACL would not only knock Gallup out for the remainder of this season, but it would also most likely sideline him for most or all of next season as well. It's a tough break for Gallup, who suffered the injury while scoring a 21-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Cedrick Wilson -- who scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter -- will feature in three-receiver sets alongside CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper moving forward. Gallup finishes the season with 35 catches for 445 yards and two touchdowns.

Injures left knee Sunday Gallup won't return to Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to a left knee injury, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Gallup got the Cowboys on the scoreboard just before halftime with a leaping 21-yard touchdown, but he seemed to hurt himself when he planted his left leg in the moment preceding the catch. Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, the team's medical staff conducted the ACL test on Gallup's left knee before he required assistance to get to the sideline and eventually the locker room. Considering he was ruled out shortly thereafter, Gallup's fate already may be known, but the nature of the injury hasn't been confirmed. Cedrick Wilson, Noah Brown and Malik Turner figure to mix into the offense more moving forward alongside starters CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper.

Impact Gallup didn't necessarily have a huge game Sunday, but his five targets were a promising sight as the Cowboys offense got back on track against Washington. In fact, the 25-year-old wideout has not seen fewer than five targets in any of the eight games he's played this season. Always a threat for a big play, Gallup could be hard to trust in the fantasy playoffs with so many mouths to feed in Dallas. The Cowboys will host the Cardinals in Week 17.

It's unfortunate that Gallup couldn't capitalize with better returns on the workload, but the Washington defense made it hard on Gallup and quarterback Dak Prescott. Dallas faces the Giants on the road in Week 15, and if Gallup's recent target rate holds up then he could see some big-play opportunities in that setting.
