Mark Ingram II Post-Practice Interview 9/16/2022 | Saints Buccaneers Week 2 New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram II post-practice interview from Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 ahead of the Saints' Week 2 game against...

Questionable for Sunday Ingram (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Ingram was able to log limited sessions during Week 2 prep, which can't be said for the Saints' top running back Alvin Kamara, who didn't practice Thursday or Friday. Both Kamara and Ingram are questionable for Week 2, but the latter has a better shot to suit up Sunday given their respective activity levels this week. In the end, Ingram's availability and potential increased workload will be confirmed about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Stays limited in practice Ingram (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Ingram's limited participation marks no change from Wednesday, but it's at least a promising sign for his chances of being available for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. However, the same can't be said for lead back Alvin Kamara (rib), who didn't take any practice reps Thursday after being limited Wednesday. If Kamara is unable to shake off the rib injury in time for Sunday and is inactive for the contest, Ingram would be the next man up in the New Orleans backfield, provided he can move past his own health concern.

Limited at practice Ingram (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
Impact Ingram and Alvin Kamara (ribs) are limited participants to start the week, following quiet outings for both in the Saints' season-opening win over Atlanta. Should one or both be absent/limited, Tony Jones is next up for backfield snaps, with Dwayne Washington (hamstring) also an option if he's able to return after missing Week 1.

Not expected to play Friday Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune indicates that it doesn't look like Ingram or Alvin Kamara are in line to see action in Friday's preseason game against the Packers.
Impact Given that Dwayne Washington didn't practice Thursday, it appears as though Tony Jones, Devine Ozigbo and Abram Smith are in line to handle the team's backfield duties Friday.

College football odds: 10 surprise betting trends to know
Sitting pretty for second RB spot Ingram didn't play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Texans and appears to have locked up the No. 2 RB job, Terrin Waack of The Advocate reports.
Impact The Saints didn't prioritize their backfield this offseason even with the emergence of Alvin Kamara's legal issues. Recent reports suggest Kamara may avoid a suspension this year, but Ingram nonetheless remains of fantasy interest as the clear No. 2 option in the Saints backfield. It's a role that comes with Week 1 touches, plus the possibility of big-time usage in the event Kamara eventually misses games due to either injury or suspension. Behind Ingram, the Saints have Dwayne Washington, Tony Jones, Devine Ozigbo and Abram Smith competing for roles, with Washington first through the rotation in the preseason opener. Each of the four had at least 25 total yards, and the Saints could go with one of the younger guys over Washington if they prioritize potential as a running back over special teams value.

Mixing in with starters Ingram has been getting some work with the first-team offense this summer, SI.com's John Hendrix reports.
Impact The 32-year-old Ingram hopes to squeeze out another season as one of the league's oldest RBs, and he currently stands second on the depth chart behind a starter with legal issues. It does seem it could be a while before a potential suspension for Alvin Kamara comes into play, with a thrice-delayed hearing in his battery case now scheduled for October. There's even been talk Kamara won't be suspended until next season, but Ingram could still find his way to a starting role via injury without any suspension coming into play. The Saints' other depth options in the backfield are Tony Jones, Dwayne Washington, Devine Ozigbo, Malcolm Brown and UDFA Abram Smith. Apart from Brown and Smith, all have been lingering around the organization for multiple years without any fantasy impact, which contributed to Ingram reuniting with the Saints last year.

How New Orleans Saints' Jameis Winston can still be a franchise QB
Still in backup mix In the wake of the recent NFL Draft, Ingram continues to slot in as Alvin Kamara's top backup, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
Impact Terrell suggests that it seemed as though the Saints might add a running back in the draft, but instead the team opted to add depth on the front by signing Abram Smith as a UDFA. Also in the backup mix are Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington, but as things stand, Ingram appears to be next in line for carries in the event that Kamara misses time for any reason. It's still possible, however, that New Orleans brings in more competition and the 32-year-old Ingram will need to hold off challenges from the likes of Jones and Smith in the coming months in order to maintain his depth chart standing.

Inactive in Week 18 Ingram (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Time-Picayune reports.
Impact The veteran running back will thus finish out the regular season with back-to-back absences. Ingram started his second Saints tenure off in encouraging fashion before tailing off once Alvin Kamara returned to the field, gaining just 27 yards on 13 carries over his last pair of contests. Ingram heads into the offseason a likely unrestricted free agent come the new league year, while Tony Jones, Ty Montgomery and Dwayne Washington figure to be the beneficiaries of his absence in Week 18 as complementary options behind Kamara.
JANUARY 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable for Week 18 Ingram (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Atlanta.
Impact Ingram followed the same practice routine this week (LP/DNP/DNP) as he did last week before he was held out this past Sunday against the Panthers. With the Saints backfield otherwise healthy, he may be in store for the same fate this weekend, which won't be confirmed, one way or another, until 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. If Ingram misses another contest, Alvin Kamara remains the team's lead runner, with Tony Jones, Ty Montgomery and special teamer Dwayne Washington also on hand.
JANUARY 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Downgrades to no activity Thursday Ingram (knee) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
Impact This is a downgrade from Wednesday's limited session. It's unclear if Ingram is trending toward a second consecutive absence as he tends to a knee injury, but his odds to suit up Sunday in Atlanta could receive some clarity on Friday's practice report. Tony Jones would be in line for some snaps behind Alvin Kamara if Ingram indeed sits out this weekend.

Flawed but resilient, No. 1 Alabama peaking at right time

This Alabama team seemed to bounce off the ropes this season when it seemed most vulnerable
JANUARY 6, 2022 • Associated Press
Stays limited at practice Ingram (knee) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
Impact Ingram ended last week with consecutive limited listings on Saints injury reports, but a questionable designation eventually led to inactive status this past Sunday against the Panthers. A knee injury is to blame, but he at least has two more opportunities Thursday and/or Friday to get back to all activity. Even if he ends up gaining clearance to play Sunday in Atlanta, though, Ingram again would play second fiddle to Alvin Kamara out of the New Orleans backfield.
JANUARY 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive Week 17 Ingram (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, John DeShazier of the team's official site reports.
Impact The veteran back was already trending toward sitting out the penultimate contest of the season, and his absence is now confirmed. With Ingram in street clothes Sunday, Alvin Kamara could see some extra work while Tony Jones is expected to fill in as the primarily complementary backfield option.
JANUARY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Improving, but unlikely to play Ingram (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, is showing improvement but is considered unlikely to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Ingram's knee injury resulted in him being a limited participant in practices Thursday and Friday. If he's indeed unable to play in Sunday's contest -- which kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET -- Tony Jones would be in line to fill in as Alvin Kamara's top backup.
JANUARY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets Week 17 questionable tag Ingram (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Impact Ingram was limited in both of the Saints' final two Week 17 practices due to the knee issue, clouding his availability for Sunday's divisional matchup. If Ingram demonstrates enough progress in the next two days to gain clearance to play this weekend, he would likely reclaim his usual role as Alvin Kamara's top backup. The Saints were forced to abandon the run early in their 20-3 loss to the Dolphins in Week 16, resulting in Ingram logging a season-low four carries during the contest.
