GAME LOG

INJURIES

Workload continues to dwindle Brown failed to catch his only target and didn't receive a carry during Thursday's 24-3 win over New England. He played just six offensive snaps.
Impact Rookie Cam Akers started and gashed the Patriots early and often Thursday, and there weren't many opportunities left over for Brown or sophomore Darrell Henderson. Since scoring two touchdowns in Week 10 against Seattle, the veteran Brown has only rushed nine times for 21 yards and caught four passes for 53 yards over the past four games. Those numbers don't tilt the fantasy scales, and with Akers appearing set to handle a hefty weekly workload, there probably won't be many opportunities for Brown moving forward. Additionally, Henderson probably profiles as a better change-of-pace option. At this stage of the game, Brown's value is dependent on finding the end zone, and he's probably not even first in line for red-zone or short-yardage carries.

Rams' offense finally steps up in Arizona, keeps LA rolling

Everybody around the Rams realizes that Los Angeles’ superb defense has been much better than its inconsistent offense for most of their successful season
DECEMBER 7, 2020 • Associated Press
Bumped down pecking order Brown rushed three times for negative three yards and caught his lone target for 30 yards during Sunday's 38-28 win over Arizona. He played just 13 offensive snaps.
Impact After leading the Rams' backfield in offensive snaps last week, Brown trailed both rookie Cam Akers (52) and sophomore Darrell Henderson (18) Sunday. Additionally, it was Akers handling the backfield duties on the last two series, which was often a role the veteran Brown handled. Making matters worse, Henderson scored a 38-yard touchdown, and Akers had his best game of the season. Brown's likely to remain involved, but his fantasy value is clearly plummeting. He's difficult to start confidently in most settings.

Rams, Cardinals meet in crucial NFC West December showdown

The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams meet on Sunday in a big NFC West game for both teams
DECEMBER 3, 2020 • Associated Press
Leads backfield in snaps Brown rushed three times for four yards and caught three passes for 15 yards during Sunday's 23-20 loss to San Francisco.
Impact Despite playing more snaps than both Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers, Brown wasn't a notable factor in the offense. The veteran running back continued to see most of his playing time in passing situations and on third downs, and it was encouraging he remained involved in the offense after fumbling on the Rams' first possession. However, his fantasy results have been lackluster each of the past two weeks with just six rushes for 24 yards and three receptions for 23 yards. With the Rams committed to utilizing all three of their running backs, Brown's upside currently appears tied to him finding the end zone.

The Latest: 49ers, Rams tied at 20 late

Robbie Gould kicked a 44-yard field goal to pull San Francisco into a 20-all tie with the Los Angeles Rams with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter

Plays 27 snaps in win Brown rushed three times for 20 yards and caught an eight-yard pass on his only target during Monday's 27-24 win over Tampa Bay.
Impact The veteran played 27 of 72 offensive snaps and was efficient with the ball in his hands. However, It's worth noting his game-long, 14-yard run was on third-and-16 from the Los Angeles six-yard line in the fourth quarter with Tampa Bay in prevent defense, so Brown's stat line is all the more underwhelming. Additionally, with the Rams committed to using all three of their running backs in the rushing attack, Brown's relied on finding the end zone to produce serviceable fantasy numbers this season. He projects to continue receiving consistent playing time, but he's far from a sure thing as a fantasy asset.

Rams roll into 2nd half with offense showing progress

The Los Angeles Rams started down the backstretch of their tough schedule with a victory that could provide a map to Super Bowl contention
NOVEMBER 16, 2020 • Associated Press
Bangs in two short TDs Brown carried the ball six times for 33 yards and two touchdowns and caught both his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Seahawks.
Impact The Rams deployed a true backfield committee in this one, with Cam Akers seeing 10 touches and Darrell Henderson eight, but Brown wound up posting more scrimmage yards than either of his teammates in addition to a pair of one-yard TD plunges. All three backs could struggle to post useful numbers if that workload split continues in Week 11 on the road against a very stingy Buccaneers run defense.

Goff's passing, Williams' picks lead Rams past Seattle 23-16

Jared Goff passed for 302 yards, Darious Williams made two interceptions and the Los Angeles Rams took a share of the NFC West lead with a 23-16 victory over the Seattle Seahawks

Takes over after Henderson injury Brown rushed 10 times for 40 yards and secured both targets for 17 yards in the Rams' 28-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Impact Darrell Henderson left the contest for good with a thigh injury in the second quarter, which left Brown as the lead back in terms of carries the rest of the way. However, game script capped Brown's overall opportunities, and rookie Cam Akers also was afforded nine carries. Brown now has double-digit carries in consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 1 and 2, and he could be in for similar or greater opportunity if Henderson's injury lingers in Week 10 against the Seahawks following the Week 9 bye.

Nice rebound performance Brown rushed 10 times for 57 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 24-10 win over the Bears.
Impact Brown provided the hammer in Los Angeles' running game, making some strong runs and being rewarded with a one-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter. That marked Brown's first score since Week 1, and Monday also featured his most rushing yards in a game since then. Although teammate Darrell Henderson still topped Brown with 15 carries for 64 yards and caught two balls compared to his one unsuccessful target, Brown can nonetheless be rather pleased by his performance, which came after a season-low two carries in Week 6. Such improvement should have Brown encouraged ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Just two rushes in loss Brown rushed twice for four yards and caught three of four targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 24-16 loss to San Francisco.
Impact Brown primarily was utilized in obvious passing situations and on third downs, as his pass protection is clearly valued by head coach Sean McVay. The role probably will enable the veteran back to remain involved in the offense and offer a dash of fantasy value, especially in PPR settings. However, he's clearly behind second-year back Darrell Henderson on the depth chart, and rookie Cam Akers likely is more talented, so Brown's long-term outlook may be bleak. Additionally, it's important to highlight Henderson has 20 red-zone carries the past four weeks compared to Brown's four.

49ers post-Super Bowl struggles all too familiar for Rams

The offense is struggling, the defense has regressed and the injuries are mounting for the San Francisco 49ers
OCTOBER 15, 2020 • Associated Press
Takes backseat in win Brown rushed eight times for 30 yards during Sunday's 30-10 win over Washington. His lone reception went for a loss of six yards.
Impact After pacing the Rams backfield in Week 4, Brown's production fell short of both Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers on Sunday. Henderson scored two touchdowns, and Akers rushed nine times for 61 yards -- including an impressive 42-yard run that highlighted the rookie's big-play ability. Add that both Henderson and Akers were priority selections for the Rams in the past two drafts, and Brown's outlook is all the more discouraging. However, he's likely to remain involved, which will probably make the Los Angeles backfield all the more difficult to project for fantasy managers for the foreseeable future. This week's offensive snap share had Henderson (29) lead the way with Brown (26) and Akers (13) following. Don't be surprised if it's close to a three-way timeshare next week against San Francisco.

Takes lead in backfield Sunday Brown carried the ball nine times for 27 yards and caught five of six targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants.
Impact While the numbers weren't impressive. Brown out-touched and out-gained Darrell Henderson both on the ground and through the air in what turned out to be a defensive battle. The Rams' backfield remains volatile even before factoring in the potential return of Cam Akers (ribs), but there could be enough production to go around in Week 5 against a Washington defense that's given up multiple rushing TDs in three straight games.
OCTOBER 5, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Cedes most work to Henderson Brown rushed seven times for 19 yards and came up empty on two targets in Sunday's 35-32 loss to Buffalo.
Impact Brown was outplayed by Darrell Henderson, who rushed 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown. While neither back made much of an impact in the passing game, Henderson's the more polished receiver and thus took on a larger role with the Rams digging out of a 28-3 hole. Now that he seems to have fallen behind Henderson in the pecking order, volume could be an issue for Brown against the Giants in Week 4, especially if Cam Akers (ribs) is able to make his return.

Ready for split with Henderson Brown and Darrell Henderson figure to share backfield work with Cam Akers (ribs) ruled out for Sunday's game in Buffalo, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Impact The rookie started the first two games of the season, but Brown ended up getting more work in the opener, and Akers then suffered a rib cartilage injury in the first quarter of the Week 2 contest. Brown also came out of the game with an injury, undergoing surgery Monday on a fractured left pinky finger. He'll be available for Sunday's contest and figures to have a role, but it is possible the finger issue impacts his workload, particularly in the passing game. Brown will be splitting snaps with Darrell Henderson, who piled up 121 yards from scrimmage on 14 touches last week.
