Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins to have injured left knee examined

Leads FG drive
Jackson completed three of four passes for 29 yards in Saturday's preseason game against Washington.
Impact
Jackson played one drive, which ended with a J.K. Dobbins injury followed by a missed field goal by the backup kicker. Jackson emerged unscathed, completing one pass to Dobbins and two others to Mark Andrews. Jackson and Andrews may need to put the Baltimore offense on their shoulders Week 1 at Las Vegas, as the Ravens already had a slew of injuries at wide receiver before losing another playmaker (Dobbins) in Saturday's game.

Likely to play Saturday
Jackson is likely to play in Saturday's preseason game at Washington, as he's one of just two healthy quarterbacks on Baltimore's roster after the team released Kenji Bahar on Tues...
Impact
The other is Tyler Huntley, who hopes to usurp Trace McSorley for the No. 2 role behind Jackson. The Ravens will probably give the backup more snaps, but it makes sense to give Jackson a bit of run after he missed the first two games of the preseason. The Ravens offense has been hamstrung by injuries to wide receivers and offensive linemen all summer, but the latter situation is finally improving, if not the former. Assuming he does play, Jackson's top targets Saturday could be young players competing for depth roles like Devin Duvernay, Tylan Wallace and Josh Oliver

Gives way to Huntley
Tyler Huntley drew the start at QB for the Ravens in Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers, while Jackson is in line to sit out his second straight contest, Jamison Hensle...
Impact
It remains to be seen if Jackson will play at all in the team's preseason finale, but doing what needs to be done to keep their star QB healthy and fresh for Week 1 action is a sound approach, given the Ravens' current injury issues at wide receiver and along the offensive line.

Uncertain for Saturday
Coach John Harbaugh said Thursday that he won't comment on expectations for Jackson's playing time (or lack thereof) in Saturday's preseason game against Carolina, Jeff Zrebiec of...
Impact
The Ravens likely want their QB to play at least a drive or two this preseason, but it may not happen if the team still needs more time to sort out its rampant injury issues at wide receiver and along the offensive line. If Jackson does play Saturday, he could be missing three to four starting linemen and each of his top five wide receivers. The third week of the preseason might make more sense, with the Aug. 28 contest against Washington taking place 16 days before Baltimore's regular-season opener in Las Vegas (Sept. 13).

Not expected to start Saturday
Trace McSorley appears to be replacing Jackson as the starting quarterback for Saturday's preseason game against New Orleans, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Jackson went through pregame warmups in uniform, but McSorley was under center when the first-team offense lined up. The Ravens' star quarterback returned from the reserve/COVID-19 list Aug. 6, and while he seems to be healthy, the team seemingly plans to keep Jackson on the sideline Saturday night. Offensive line injuries may be a factor, and the Ravens also are banged up at wide receiver.

Back with team

Impact
At this time, the Ravens' star QB hasn't yet decided if he'll get vaccinated following his latest COVID issue, noting, "I just got off the COVID list. I got to talk to my team about this and see how they feel about it. Keep learning as much as I can about it. We'll go from there." In the meantime, the signal-caller will look to get back up to speed after missing practice time, and in that context it's unclear when he'll make his first preseason appearance. Baltimore's first exhibition game is Saturday against the Saints.

Returns to practice
Jackson participated in Saturday's practice one day after being cleared from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact
What's more, Jackson has received glowing remarks in his first full day of training camp since it began. The star quarterback is one of the top fantasy options at his position in large part due to his mobility. Jackson should be poised for another year close to 1,000 rushing yards so long as he stays healthy.

Cleared from COVID-19 list
Jackson has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list and should return to practice Saturday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Ravens training camp isn't off to the best start, with the starting quarterback missing the first week and a half while his favorite wide receiver from last season (Marquise Brown) has been out with a hamstring injury. Jackson's return to practice will be welcome news in Baltimore, where Trace McSorley and Tyler Huntley have been taking first-team QB reps. In addition to Brown's hamstring injury, the O-line is a bit banged up, but Jackson will have some healthy pass catchers in TE Mark Andrews, RB J.K. Dobbins and WRs Sammy Watkins and Rashod Bateman.
