Broncos WR KJ Hamler Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts His grandmother’s death devastated him.

Broncos Camp | Day 5: What to Make of KJ Hamler's Return What did we learn from Day 5 of Broncos Camp?
AUGUST 1, 2022 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
Activated from PUP list Hamler (knee) has passed his physical and has been cleared to return to practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact With that, the wideout -- who suffered season-ending ACL and hip injuries Week 3 of the 2021 season -- has come off the active/PUP list and will now look to cement his role in a Denver wide receiver corps that is led by Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick. In that context, the team can afford to work Hamler back into the mix, but if injuries hit any of the top trio, the speedy 2020 second-rounder's ability to stretch the field could be an asset to the Broncos offense, which now is helmed by QB Russell Wilson.

To come off PUP list The Broncos are expected to activate Hamler (knee) from the active/PUP list Monday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Hamler reportedly is recovering well from a torn left ACL suffered last September, and the Broncos are hopeful his impressive speed won't have diminished. Though the trio of Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick appear entrenched atop Denver's wide receiver depth chart, Hamler boasts a skill set that could allow him to thrive as the No. 4 option for new franchise quarterback Russell Wilson.
AUGUST 1, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
To open camp on PUP list Hamler (knee) will open training camp on the PUP list, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Given that Hamler is bouncing back from an ACL tear that he suffered in late September last year, it's not surprising that the team plans to ease the wideout back into the mix. Barring any setbacks, however, the 2020 second-rounder has a solid chance to be ready for Week 1 action. As things stand though, Hamler projects as the Broncos' No. 4 receiver, behind Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick. That said, if injuries hit any of the top trio down the road, Hamler's ability to stretch the field could mesh well with the skills new franchise QB Russell Wilson brings to the table.

May not be ready for camp Hamler (knee) may be placed on the PUP list to begin training camp, Troy Renck of Denver7 ABC reports.
Impact Hamler got in some work during the offseason program but mostly seems to have been held out of team drills at June minicamp. He's coming back from an ACL tear suffered in late September, with the timing giving him a decent chance to be ready for Week 1 even if he does start camp on the PUP list. The 2020 second-round pick projects as Denver's No. 4 receiver, behind Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy (groin) and Tim Patrick.

Participating in Tuesday's practice Hamler (knee) practiced Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Hamler tore his left ACL at the end of September last season and was sidelined for OTAs last week, but he was able to participate during the Broncos' light practice Tuesday. Denver will likely be cautious with the Penn State product during the offseason to avoid any potential setback, but it's still encouraging to see him participating in team activities. With Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick all ahead of him on the depth chart, the 2020 second-round pick will have an uphill battle to fantasy relevancy, but it remains to be seen how Denver's new QB Russell Wilson will divvy out targets.

Not participating in Day 1 of OTAs Hamler (knee) is at Day 1 of Denver's OTAs, but he isn't participating, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Hamler tore his left ACL at the end of September last season, but there have been numerous reports that the 2020 second-round wideout is well ahead of schedule heading into the 2022 campaign. Regardless, the Broncos are likely to be extremely cautious with the Penn State product to avoid any potential setback. With Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick all ahead of him on the depth chart, Hamler faces an uphill battle to fantasy relevancy, but it remains to be seen how Denver's new QB Russell Wilson will divvy out targets. If healthy, the 22-year-old speedster could carve out a sizable role in the Broncos' new-look offense during the 2022 campaign.

Ahead of schedule GM George Paton relayed Friday that Hamler is "well ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a torn left ACL, The Athletic's Nick Kosmider reports.
Impact The report adds that Hamler, who sustained his injury back on Sept. 26, has progressed to the point that he was able to run routes and catch passes from Denver's new QB Russell Wilson last month. While it remains to be seen when Hamler will be able to practice without restriction, the 2020 second-rounder noted, "I expect myself to be ready before the season." Given that the Broncos also roster Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick, there's not a clear path for a high volume of targets for Hamler as the 2022 campaign approaches, but considering the team's major upgrade at quarterback, the 22-year-old speedster could carve out fantasy utility down the road if presented with added opportunities if/when injuries hit Denver's wideout corps.

APRIL 19, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Progressing well Hamler is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn left ACL, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact While that's an encouraging report, there's still no precise timetable yet for the wideout's return to the field. That said, given that Hamler sustained his injury back on Sept. 26, it seems likely that he'll be able to recover in time to re-establish his role in Denver's offense this summer. The 2020 second-rounder saw action in just three games last year, and he'll rejoin a deep WR corps that also includes Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick.

No longer on crutches Hamler (knee) is no longer on crutches and is walking around on his own Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Hamler isn't expected to return this season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee. However, it's a good sign that the 2020 second-round pick is making progress during his rehab. It's still not clear if the 22-year-old will be able to return by the start of training camp in 2022.
