INJURIES

Returns to practice Hamler (knee/hip) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Hamler was held out of practice last week,, with coach Nathaniel Hackett attributing the wideout's absence during Sunday's win over the Texans to "maintenance" rather than a specific injury. He's been listed with knee and hip injuries, perhaps still working to get back to full speed after rehabbing the ACL tear he suffered last September. A return for Week 3 against the Niners would be good news for the Broncos, especially after Jerry Jeudy (shoulder) left the last game early and missed practice Wednesday.

Sitting out Week 2 for maintenance Hamler (knee/hip) won't play Sunday against the Texans, Troy Renck of ABC Denver7 reports.
Impact Coach Nathaniel Hackett elaborated that Hamler's sitting out for maintenance reasons. The Broncos are playing it safe with the 23-year-old wide receiver, who tore his ACL less than a year ago, but there's a good chance Hamler will be back on the field in Week 3 against the 49ers.

Works on side field Hamler (knee/hip) worked on a side field during Friday's practice, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Impact With Hamler not having practiced this week, the wideout appears to be trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Texans. If he's unavailable this weekend, Montrell Washington and Tyrie Cleveland are candidates to log added Week 2 snaps behind Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

Hackett: KJ Hamler Missing Practice 'Not a Setback' A ‘long season’ for the Broncos WR.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Sits for another practice Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Hamler (knee/hip) won't practice Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Though Hamler was able to return from the torn ACL he suffered Sept. 26 of last season to play in Monday's season-opening loss to the Seahawks, he did little during his 38 snaps, as he failed to corral his lone target. The Broncos didn't indicate that Hamler suffered a setback with his surgically repaired left knee coming out of that contest, but his second straight absence from practice to begin Week 2 prep could suggest otherwise. Hamler will have one more chance Friday to get in some on-field reps and potentially clear up any concern about his status heading into Sunday's game against the Texans.

Doesn't practice Wednesday Hamler (knee/hip) didn't practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Hamler, who was listed as questionable ahead of Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks with the same injuries, suited up and logged 40 snaps but couldn't reel in his lone target in the contest. With no reported setbacks, it's possible that his absence from practice Wednesday was maintenance-related.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Catchless in loss Hamler failed to reel in his lone target in Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.
Impact Hamler was on the field for regular-season action for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in Week 3 last year, but he was unable to get anything going on a night the Broncos' offense struggled mightily. The speedy wideout was in on 61 percent of the team's offensive snaps, which should bode well for his potential if this trend continues and the offense begins to gel as the season goes on. Hamler will look to improve upon his 2022 debut when the Broncos host the Texans in Week 2.

Returns to practice Hamler (knee) is practicing Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Hamler was activated from the PUP list Aug. 1 but actually didn't practice until Monday. He now has three weeks to ramp up before the season opener, with his availability taking on added importance after fellow Broncos wideout Tim Patrick suffered an ACL tear (the same injury Hamler is returning from) early in training camp. Coach Nathaniel Hackett said Hamler may play in the Broncos' final preseason game this Saturday against Denver, per Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site.

Could return to practice soon Hamler (knee) has a chance to return to full practice as early as next week, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Hamler continues to work his way back from an ACL tear suffered in Week 3 of last season. Although the speedy wideout came off the PUP list Aug. 1, he has not participated in the Broncos' 11-on-11 portion of practices. General manager George Paton said "(KJ) still looks great. He's working on the side field. Sometimes you have to protect these players from themselves." Paton added that Hamler should be ready to go next week. The cautious approach to his return makes sense considering the Broncos are already down one of their top receivers in Tim Patrick (knee) for the season. The loss of Patrick provides a major boost to Hamler's fantasy potential, as the 23-year-old will serve as Denver's No. 3 receiver. His impending return to practice should give him time to develop chemistry with new quarterback Russell Wilson ahead of the 2022 campaign.
AUGUST 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Not practicing yet Hamler (knee) won't practice Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Coming back from an ACL tear suffered Week 3 last year, Hamler came off the PUP list Aug. 1 and hasn't yet taken part in a full-speed, 11-on-11 practice. It's unclear if he'll make an appearance this preseason, but his fantasy value nonetheless has increased since the start of camp on account of Tim Patrick's torn ACL. If Hamler isn't ready for the season opener, Kendall Hinton and Montrell Washington would be among the options to serve as Denver's No. 3 receiver. Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are locked in for the top two spots to start the season.

Impact Hamler has been practicing -- though not quite yet at full speed in 11-on-11 drills -- and barring any setbacks, it looks like he'll be ready for the Broncos' season opener. The 2020 second-rounder had until recently been expected to begin the coming campaign working behind Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick (knee). However, with Patrick having been placed on season-ending IR this week, Hamler's profile in the team's offense is expected to increase, with his ability to stretch the field potentially meshing well with new franchise QB Russell Wilson's approach and skill set.

Broncos receivers have to make up for loss of leader Patrick

The Denver Broncos have to make up for the loss of leading receiver Tim Patrick if they're going to have any hope of keeping up with the high-octane offenses in the AFC West
AUGUST 3, 2022 • Associated Press
Moves up depth chart Hamler's teammate Tim Patrick is out for the season after suffering an ACL injury during practice Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact It was Hamler who suffered an ACL injury last year, and Courtland Sutton the year before. That's part of why the Broncos have impressive depth at wide receiver, with Hamler (a 2020 second-round pick) lining up as the likely No. 4 prior to Tuesday's news. He now profiles as No. 3, behind Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, though he'll first need to reprove him self on the practice field after a lengthy layoff. Hamler was activated from the PUP list Monday and figures to be eased in to practice in the coming weeks.
