Finds end zone in loss Gainwell carried the ball five times for 20 yards and caught four of eight targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Raiders.

Impact Miles Sanders left the game late in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and Gainwell split the backfield workload roughly equally with Boston Scott for the rest of the afternoon, with Gainwell's nine touches topping Scott by one. Both backs also found the end zone -- Scott on the ground, Gainwell through the air -- and if Sanders is sidelined for a Week 8 road clash against the Lions, the duo could well operate in a timeshare again.

Impact Coming off the biggest game of his young career, this certainly qualifies as a disappointing result for Gainwell. The Eagles did hardly any running in the first half though and only ended up with 22 carries total for the game -- nine of which belonged to Jalen Hurts. The rookie now has a tough matchup against Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

Impact Gainwell, like the rest of the Eagles offense, struggled to get anything going Monday night against the Cowboys defense. As the team's clear No. 2 running back, the rookie was the only other back to record a rushing attempt besides Miles Sanders, and Gainwell played on 31 percent of the team's offensive snaps compared to Boston Scott's seven percent share. Gainwell and the rest of the Eagles will look to turn things around as Kansas City come to town for a Week 4 showdown.

Impact Like most of the Eagles offense, the rookie was largely contained on the day. The good news is he again operated as the clear top backup for Miles Sanders, as Boston Scott didn't even register a snap on offense. Gainwell should have more room to run in Week 3 against a more forgiving Dallas defense.

Meanwhile, Boston Scott only played on special teams. Gainwell found the end zone on an eight-yard score -- also his longest rush of the game -- for his first career touchdown, but he also had a four-yard trip to the end zone wiped out by a penalty. He once again should see a decent amount of work in a Week 2 matchup against the 49ers.
