Impact The 27-year-old had an opportunity for a big day with Laviska Shenault (hamstring) making an early exit, but it was Chris Conley who stepped up with seven receptions for 52 yards. The shift from Gardner Minshew (thumb) to rookie Jake Luton at quarterback didn't have a major impact on the production in the Jags' passing game, but Cole clearly didn't show a great rapport with the rookie in his debut. Cole should continue to see significant reps -- especially if Shenault is forced to miss time -- but he has only two catches for 18 yards in the past two games.

Impact The 27-year-old popped up on the injury report Friday as a limited participant due to a back issue, but it shouldn't impact his status for Sunday's contest. Cole has 28 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns through seven games this season, but Jacksonville's passing game seems likely to take a hit with Gardner Minshew (thumb) sidelined and rookie Jake Luton leading the offense.

Only one catch Sunday Cole caught one of two targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 39-29 loss to the Chargers.
Impact It was a disappointing follow-up to Cole's 143-yard eruption against the Lions last week, but the Chargers' pass rush gave Gardner Minshew little time to let routes develop downfield, and the production of the entire WR corps suffered. Cole is on pace for a career-best season heading into Jacksonville's Week 8 bye, but he could be catching passes from a different quarterback on the other side of the break, as Minshew's job security is shaky following six straight losses.

Big plays power strong performance Cole recorded six receptions on nine targets for 143 yards in Week 6 against the Lions.
Impact Cole commanded a season-best nine targets and took advantage by recording explosive plays. He provided the three longest gains for the Jaguars -- receptions of 51, 35 and 24 yards -- highlighted by a broken play during which he broke free from the Lions secondary. For the season, Cole has been able to find the end zone or top 100 yards in four of the team's six contests. While he surpassed rookie Laviska Shenault for targets in Week 6, it may be difficult for Cole to command this type of volume on a weekly basis going forward.

Impact Cole's six targets were good for fourth on the team, but he was largely inefficient with his opportunity. He did come through with a grab in the corner of the end zone to record a 13-yard touchdown reception halfway through the second quarter. Though Cole has only 219 yards through five contests, he has found the end zone on three occasions. If DJ Chark (ankle) is unable to suit up in Week 6 against the Lions, Cole should be in line for increased opportunity.

Impact The 27-year-old has surprisingly been a model of consistency through four games, totaling at least four receptions and 40-plus yards in each contest. However, his season-high marks of six catches and 58 yards offers a fairly limited ceiling if he doesn't reach the end zone. Cole's snap share pegs him as Jacksonville's No. 2 wide receiver, but rookie Laviska Shenault has been the more explosive option in the offense behind top-wideout DJ Chark.

Impact With DJ Chark (chest) sidelined for Thursday's game, Cole was third in receptions and second in receiving yardage on the night. The 27-year-old has gotten plenty of attention from quarterback Gardner Minshew through the first three games of the season, as he's now logged 17 targets, 15 of which he's brought in for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Cole saw his role diminish last season while playing with Minshew and Nick Foles -- he slumped to a career-low 24 receptions for 361 yards over 16 games -- but his outlook appears much brighter through the first three games of 2020. Cole will look to keep up the momentum, with or without Chark available, when the Jaguars face the Bengals in a Week 4 road matchup in Sunday, Oct. 4.

Likely headed for more snaps Cole could take on a heavier snap count Thursday against the Dolphins with DJ Chark (chest) ruled out for the contest, James Johnson of USA Today reports.
Impact Cole has already started in both of the Jaguars' first two games and ranks second on the team with 105 yards, but he's played less than 70 percent of the offensive snaps. With Jacksonville's top target out of the mix this week, however, more snaps and looks could be funneled Cole's way out of necessity. Along with Cole, Laviska Shenault and Chris Conley are expected to help replace Chark, while tight end Tyler Eifert and depth wideout Dede Westbrook may also take on heightened roles in the team's passing game.
