INJURIES

Looking explosive at camp Mitchell has looked like one of the most explosive players on the field early on at Ravens training camp, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Banner reports.
Impact Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Mitchell would be "fighting for touches" as Baltimore's RB3 behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill, but if Mitchell is able to get back to the form he showed as a rookie, then there's a chance he could start to push Hill for playing time and touches. Mitchell was electric with the ball in his hands as a 2023 rookie, posting a 47-396-2 rushing line, averaging an otherworldly 8.4 yards per carry. If Henry ever went down with an injury, Mitchell would be a must-add in fantasy football. He's worth a late-round pick in best-ball formats.

Feels back to full form Mitchell has been a standout at Baltimore's voluntary OTAs and said Monday that he feels fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered as a rookie in 2023, Ryan Mink of the team's...
Impact Mitchell is showing some of the burst he displayed as a rookie before tearing his ACL, when across eight regular-season games in 2023 he rushed 47 times for 396 yards and two scores, for a tremendous 8.4 YPC. In 2024, Mitchell's debut was delayed until Week 10 due to his rehab, and across just five regular-season appearances he was stymied to the tune of just 2.0 YPC. Now entering Year 3, Mitchell said he not only feels back to 100 percent health, but that he's set personal records in all of his speed tracking analytics this offseason and feels better than he did as a rookie. That said, even back at full speed, Mitchell will face tough competition on the path to carving out change-of-pace reps in the Ravens' backfield. Derrick Henry remains entrenched as Baltimore's featured workhorse and inked a two-year extension this offseason, while Justice Hill did well as a pass-catching specialist in 2024.

Incomplete grade in Year 2 Mitchell finished the season with 15 carries for 30 yards and one reception on one target for 28 yards.
Impact The second-year running back missed the season's first nine games while recovering from the significant knee injury that ended his promising rookie campaign. Even though Mitchell was active in weeks 10-12, he did not receive an offensive touch in those games. He was then inactive for three games before somewhat getting in the mix in the final two weeks with 15 combined carries. The 2.0 YPC was a far cry from the 8.4 figure he established on 47 carries last season. If Justice Hill returns during the postseason, Mitchell will likely settle into a small change-of-pace role in the offense while also serving as a kick returner. In dynasty formats, it would be hasty to cut bait on a player like Mitchell simply because of a difficult year. His impressive rookie season and the injury caveat this year should still keep him on the radar for 2025 and beyond, even with Derrick Henry under contract for another year.

Tears off long kick return Saturday Mitchell took four carries for 10 yards and returned a kick for 47 yards during Saturday's 35-10 win versus the Browns.
Impact Mitchell played just 14 of Baltimore's 67 offensive snaps in Week 18, a similar role to what he saw in Week 17 at Houston after being inactive the three games prior. However, his biggest contribution to Saturday's win actually came on special teams, as he took a second-quarter kickoff all the way out to Cleveland's 48-yard line. He figures to play only sparingly in Saturday's wild-card game versus the Steelers as long as Derrick Henry is at full strength.

Gets involved vs Texans Mitchell had 11 carries for 20 yards and added a 28-yard reception Wednesday against the Texans.
Impact The rushing output wasn't spectacular, but the rushing volume was noteworthy for Mitchell. They marked his first carries since suffering a season-ending knee injury as a rookie in 2023. He had made three appearances prior to Wednesday but had yet to receive a touch. Mitchell showed off the speed and elusiveness that got people's attention last year when he scooted upfield for a 28-yard gain on his lone reception. Derrick Henry remains the king of the Baltimore backfield and Justice Hill will still have a role once he's able to return, but Mitchell could be an x-factor down the stretch in this offense.

Will play against Houston Mitchell is active for Wednesday's game against the Texans, Clifford Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.
Impact Mitchell has been a healthy inactive for the Ravens' last three games, but he will suit up Christmas Day due to Justice Hill being ruled out with a concussion. Baltimore has opted to have rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali serve as the backup running back behind Derrick Henry over its last three games, so Mitchell would figure to operate as the third option out of the backfield Wednesday due to Hill's absence, though most of Mitchell's production will likely come in kickoff return duties.

Inactive again Week 16 Mitchell (coach's decision) is inactive against the Steelers on Saturday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
Impact Mitchell will be a healthy scratch for a third consecutive game. Rasheen Ali will join Derrick Henry and Justice Hill as Baltimore's third active running back for Saturday's rivalry game.
