GAME LOG

INJURIES

Suits up for Sunday's game Hunt (wrist/knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
Impact Hunt didn't practice either Wednesday or Thursday, but was able to return to a limited session Friday. In doing so, the running back looked good, coach Kevin Stefanski told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. With Nick Chubb (calf) having already been ruled out for Sunday's contest, Stefanski also noted that Hunt (the expected starter at RB) is line for more work than usual in Week 6, while adding that the team has a specific number of touches in mind for the running back, with an eye toward not overextending him. With that in mind, D'Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton are candidates to log complementary/change-of-pace snaps versus Arizona.

Should play, uptick in work on tap Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Hunt (wrist/knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, should be ready to handle a larger role than n...
Impact Since the Browns will hav a quick turnaround for Week 7 with the Broncos traveling to Cleveland for a Thursday night game, Stefanski cautioned that Hunt won't be overworked in Sunday's contest. That being said, the absence of Chubb -- who was averaging 19 touches per game -- should pave the way for Hunt to take on his biggest workload to date, assuming the contest is reasonably competitive throughout. Behind Hunt, rookie Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson are expected to get touches, too, according to Pelissero, but neither player is expected to see as sizable of a snap or touch count that Hunt typically enjoys as the No. 2 option behind Chubb. Fantasy managers will still want to confirm that Hunt avoids the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, though that seems like a foregone conclusion at this point.

Ready for lead role, if active Hunt (wrist/knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, is slated to be the Browns' No. 1 running back with Nick Chubb (calf) ruled out, Scott Pet...
Impact Chubb was unable to practice all week in the wake of the calf injury he picked up Week 5 against the Chargers in L.A. Hunt himself was a part of the rehab group Wednesday and Thursday as he tended to wrist and knee issues, but he set himself up for potential active status Sunday with a limited session Friday. Afterward, he said, "it felt pretty good, so we're going to see how it goes." Ultimately, the Browns won't reveal Hunt's availability -- or lack thereof -- until 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, but all signs point toward the fifth-year pro leading Cleveland's backfield Week 6. If he mimics Chubb's workload on the season, Hunt will go from 14.4 touches per game to 19, putting him into the RB1 picture. Behind Hunt, Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson are the running backs on the active roster, while John Kelly is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.

Browns star RB Chubb out, WR Landry could return vs. Arizona

Star running back Nick Chubb will miss the Cleveland Browns’ game Sunday against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals, but wide receiver Jarvis Landry could return to action
OCTOBER 15, 2021 β€’ Associated Press
Listed as questionable for Sunday Hunt (wrist/knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact Meanwhile fellow running back Nick Chubb (calf) has been ruled out for the contest, which sets the stage for Hunt to log heavy work this weekend, assuming he's active. With that in mind it's worth tracking Hunt's status as Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff approaches, with added context regarding his Week 6 status likely to arrive no later than late Saturday/early Sunday, when national reporters like Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport provide their weekly injury updates.

Returns to practice Hunt (wrist) was on the field at Friday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Impact Hunt was held out of Thursday's practice due to the wrist issue, but it appears he'll at least work as a limited participant a day later. Nick Chubb has yet to practice this week due to a calf injury, and if he's unavailable this weekend Hunt is poised to operate as Cleveland's No. 1 tailback versus Arizona, assuming he's available himself.

OCTOBER 14, 2021 β€’ Associated Press
Officially non-participant Thursday Hunt (wrist/knee) didn't practice Thursday.
Impact The same applies to Nick Chubb (calf), which sets the stage for Friday's practice and subsequent injury report to loom large in terms of the composition of Cleveland's backfield for Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET contest against the Cardinals. In a scenario where one or both of the team's top backs are limited or out this weekend, added Week 6 snaps would be available for Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson.

Impact Cleveland will hold both of its top two backs out of team drills for the second day in a row, as Nick Chubb (calf) also isn't practicing. Hunt may be further along in his recovery from his respective injuries than Chubb, however, as Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer notes that Hunt was taking part in elliptical work under the supervision of trainers Thursday, while Chubb wasn't present at the facility at all. A resolution on the statuses of both players should come following Friday's practice, but if both Chubb and Hunt aren't able to play or handle their normal workloads Sunday against the Cardinals, Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson would be the next men up out of the Browns' backfield.

OCTOBER 14, 2021 β€’ BROWNSZONE.COM
Sits out practice Hunt won't practice Wednesday due to wrist and knee injuries, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact Along with Hunt, fellow running back Nick Chubb (calf) will also sit out the session. The Browns haven't indicated whether either player's status is in peril for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, so it's conceivable that both Hunt and Chubb are receiving some extra maintenance on the heels of a 47-42 loss to the Chargers in Week 5. If Hunt is able to get back on the field in some capacity Thursday, he'll likely be trending in the right direction for the Week 6 contest.
