Heads to injured reserve Hunt (calf) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Impact With a 4-6 week timetable to return from the calf injury he sustained this past Sunday against the Cardinals, Hunt was destined to land on IR, if only to open up a spot on the active roster. The Browns proceeded to sign running back John Kelly off their practice squad Tuesday, but this position group still runs through Nick Chubb (calf) when he's healthy. He's not, though, as he sat out Week 6 and kicked off Week 7 prep as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate. There's no telling if Chubb will do enough to be able to play Thursday versus the Broncos, but at the moment Demetric Felton, D'Ernest Johnson, Kelly and fullback Johnny Stanton are the four healthy members of Cleveland's backfield.

Coach confirms timeline Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Monday the reported four-to-six week timeline for Hunt (calf), Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Impact The coach said Hunt will miss more than three weeks and is "in that ballpark" of four to six weeks. With a game Thursday against Denver, the Browns are scrambling with a banged-up backfield. Nick Chubb (calf) was inactive Week 6 and started the short practice week as a DNP. D'Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton ascended the depth chart during Sunday's game after Hunt was removed and are poised to fill in Thursday if necessary.

Impact Hunt will be required to miss at least the next three games if he's placed on IR, though Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that his expected recovery timeframe is actually 4-to-6 weeks.
