Hitting South Beach The 49ers agreed to trade Wilson to the Dolphins on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Not long after dealing Chase Edmonds to the Broncos in the Bradley Chubb trade, the Dolphins restocked their backfield with the addition of Wilson, who has experience working with new head coach Mike McDaniel from his time in San Francisco. Wilson also will be joining forces with former teammate Raheem Mostert. On the season, Wilson has averaged 5.1 YPC on his 92 rushes, gathered in 10 of 13 targets and scored two rushing TDs in eight contests, but there was little room for him in the Niners' plans after his former club added Christian McCaffrey.

Receives six touches as backup Wilson rushed four times for 14 yards and caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Rams.

Impact Christian McCaffrey scored three touchdowns and took over as the 49ers' feature back following a full week of practice, effectively cementing Wilson as the backup. The 26-year-old did well in his run as fill-in starter prior to the big trade, but his fantasy value is diminished if McCaffrey is going to dominate the backfield touches this heavily. The latter isn't known for his durability, so Wilson could be worth hanging on to -- roster space permitting -- or possibly offered in a trade to the fantasy manager who rosters McCaffrey as injury insurance. Wilson should not be considered a starting fantasy option when San Francisco returns from its bye week to take on the Chargers on Nov. 13.

Impact Through six games, Wilson leads the 49ers with 81 carries, but once McCaffrey is up to speed with the team's playbook, he'll be slated to handle the bulk of San Fransisco's backfield touches. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, McCaffrey is a candidate to suit up Sunday against Kansas City and potentially be used in a red-zone package in such a scenario. In that context, Wilson could remain involved in his team's Week 7 rushing attack, but looking ahead, his fantasy utility should taper off in the weeks ahead once McCaffrey's workload increases.
