Huge role in pass-catching realm
McKissic caught nine of a team-high 14 targets for 65 receiving yards, adding three rushes for 17 yards during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Giants.
Impact
McKissic dominated both the RB and the team pass-catching workload, as he attracted as many targets as Washington's second and third-highest targeted players combined (Terry McLaurin at eight targets, and Logan Thomas at six). The running back's passing game role has been steady for over the past month now, as McKissic has garnered six-plus catches in four of his past five outings, averaging 42 receiving yards per game during that span. Looking ahead to Week 10, McKissic next faces a Lions defense that ranks seventh worst in the NFL with 413 receiving yards allowed to opposing RBs on the season.

Washington may have figured out how to get its offense going

Totals 51 scrimmage yards
McKissic carried five times for 35 yards and caught both his targets for an additional 16 yards during Sunday's 25-3 win over the Cowboys.
Impact
McKissic was quite effective as a ball carrier, averaging 7.0 yards per carry, but he didn't make his usual impact as a pass catcher with his team playing from ahead throughout the game. He could have more passes thrown his way next Sunday against the Giants but seems unlikely to take over as the lead back anytime soon after Antonio Gibson erupted for 128 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in this one. As such, McKissic should be left on the bench in the majority of fantasy formats.

Posts 84 total yards in loss
McKissic rushed eight times for 41 yards and secured all six targets for 43 yards in the Washington Football Team's 20-19 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Impact
McKissic continued to enjoy a steady role in the offense, outpacing backfield mate Antonio Gibson in total touches by one and posting at least six receptions for the third straight game. The eight carries tied a season high for McKissic, who appears to have a relatively modest but consistent role as a pass-catching option that can occasionally see larger-than-expected opportunity on the ground. McKissic will look to build on Sunday's season-best effort versus the Cowboys in Week 7.

Leads team in targets
McKissic caught six passes for 48 yards on a team-high eight targets in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Rams, adding one carry for three yards.
Impact
Washington struggled to move the ball with Kyle Allen (arm) and then Alex Smith at quarterback, trailing by multiple scores for most of the game and never finding any success throwing downfield. The familiar game script -- it was the team's fourth straight loss by 14 or more points -- allowed McKissic to stay heavily involved, but it was still Antonio Gibson who dominated work on the ground with 11 carries for 27 yards. A Week 6 matchup with the Giants could produce a closer contest, which likely would shift more of the workload toward Gibson but also would be a positive development for the Washington offense as a whole.

Falls back in Week 3
McKissic carried the ball five times for 15 yards in Week 3 against the Browns. He added three receptions for 37 yards.
Impact
McKissic saw his carries slashed from his Week 2 performance as he failed to get going on the ground against the Browns. However, he did manage to produce through the air, paced by a 26-yard reception that set up a rushing touchdown for Antonio Gibson in the third quarter. McKissic's production on the ground has varied widely through three weeks, and he had failed to contribute through the air prior to his Week 3 performance. That makes him a volatile producer for the team's Week 4 matchup against the Ravens and beyond.

Surprisingly effective on ground
McKissic carried the ball eight times for 53 yards in Sunday's 30-15 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact
Remarkably, the fifth-year receiving back didn't even get a target in the game, but he carved out a large share of the backfield workload due to his efficiency on the ground. Meanwhile, Antonio Gibson lead the backfield with 13 touches and Peyton Barber was held to only one carry. McKissic could see solid volume again in Week 3, although more of it might come through the air, as Washington tries to keep pace with a Browns offense that just piled up 35 points against the Bengals.

Finishes with negative yardage
McKissic played 44 percent of offensive snaps in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Eagles, taking three carries for a loss of two yards and catching one of five targets for one yard.
Impact
McKissic actually led the Washington backfield in snap share, but his opportunities didn't result in any production, while Peyton Barber had a pair of goal-line touchdowns and Antonio Gibson picked up 44 yards on 11 touches. McKissic and Gibson both were on the field for the first snap of the game, and it was a pretty even three-way split throughout the afternoon. Look for more of the same Week 2 at Arizona, though it is possible McKissic could eventually have his role scaled back if he struggles through more performances like Sunday's.

Won't necessarily start
Coach Ron Rivera said McKissic "just happened to be put first" on the depth chart, reiterating that the team will use a committee in the backfield, Sam Fortier of The Washington Po...
Impact
It was interesting to see McKissic listed in the top spot, but Rivera essentially confirms that it doesn't actually mean much. Depth charts typically are produced by PR departments, and in Washington's case there was no obvious order for the running backs. Reports from beat writers suggest McKissic, Antonio Gibson and Peyton Barber will all have roles Sunday against the Eagles, while Bryce Love is a wild card to potentially make it a four-man committee instead of three. McKissic figures to see most of his snaps in passing situations.

Listed atop depth chart
Washington listed McKissic as its No. 1 running back on the unofficial depth chart the team released Tuesday, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact
Though McKissic sits atop the depth chart, his presence there shouldn't be viewed as confirmation that he'll start or receive the majority of the snaps and touches out of the backfield in Sunday's season opener versus the Eagles. Instead, Stackpole speculates that Washington will make use of all four of its running backs in Week 1, with multiple backs occasionally sharing the field together. Third-round rookie Antonio Gibson likely has the most three-down potential of the four backs, as McKissic has been used as a pass-catching specialist for most of his career, while Peyton Barber and Bryce Love are best suited for work on running downs.
