Impact Williams split touches with Melvin Gordon evenly (11 each), but the former outplayed his veteran counterpart in this contest. Neither back has really outshone the other on a consistent basis through five weeks, so a timeshare should continue as we progress through the year. Both Williams and Gordon may end up eating in Week 6 against the Raiders, who surrender 133.3 rushing yards per game this season.

Looks good with limited touches Williams carried the ball seven times for 48 yards and caught all three of his targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Ravens.

Impact The Denver running game had some success in the first half, and both Williams and Melvin Gordon finished the afternoon averaging better than six yards a carry, but when Teddy Bridgewater left the game with a concussion late in the second quarter, the whole offense stagnated. Williams came into Sunday with just a 3.5 YPC through his first three NFL games, however, and the rookie could slip back to that level in Week 5 against a tough Steelers run defense.

Impact Williams ended the game with the same number of rushes as Melvin Gordon, and the pair often alternated plays on the same drive. Despite identical workloads on the ground, Williams out-gained Gordon by 33 yards -- though Gordon was far more effective as a receiver. Williams managed to record double-digit yardage on three of his 13 carries, the longest of which went for 16 yards. Through two weeks, Williams seems to be the more consistently effective rusher as compared to Gordon. Though it will likely take time, he should lead the Broncos' backfield at some point this season.
