Puts pen to paper Landry has signed a one-year contract with the Saints that is worth a base value of $3 million plus $3 million in incentives, Ian Rapport of NFL Network reports.

Impact This seems like a team-friendly deal for the 29-year-old Landry, who could max out the contract and still take home less cash in 2022 than 39 other receivers around the league. In any case, it will be interesting to see if a new team can help Landry rebound from a down 2021 season in Cleveland in which the LSU product logged career lows in nearly every receiving category. Working in Landry's favor will be his position within two blue-chip perimeter receivers (Michael Thomas, Chris Olave) while catching passes from a quarterback in Jameis Winston who has developed a reputation for attempting risky throws.

Impact Landry visited the Saints in April, and after testing the free-agency market, he's opted to sign a deal with New Orleans. The veteran likely slots into the depth chart behind Michael Thomas, with Landry further bolstering a wide receiver corps that also includes 2022 first-round pick Chris Olave. After missing just one regular-season game over his first seven NFL seasons, Landry was sidelined for five games in 2021 en route to recording a 50/770/2 stat line for the Browns.

It's hard to imagine a WR-needy team trading significant draft compensation for the 29-year-old, who is scheduled to count $16.38 million against the cap, especially with a loaded class of incoming rookie WRs and a healthy group of free-agent targets set to become available. As a result, it wouldn't be entirely surprising to see the Browns outright cut the star slot wide receiver, dramatically opening up the number of possible destinations for Landry.
