Designated to return from IR The 49ers designated Hasty (ankle) to return from injured reserve Monday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Hasty had nine touches for 59 yards before suffering a high-ankle sprain during San Francisco's second game of the season. The 49ers backfield has been decimated by injuries this year, but they are coming off their bye week, which may have allowed them to finally get their running back room healthy. Hasty will have a 21-day period to be added to the active roster, but if he isn't, he will return to IR for the rest of the season.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 • SPORTINGNEWS.COM
Has high ankle sprain The injury Hasty suffered Sunday against the Eagles was a high ankle sprain which coach Kyle Shanahan said will keep him "out for awhile," Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Impact High ankle sprains normally entail multi-week recovery timelines, so Hasty can be ruled out of Sunday's game against the Packers and may need to miss additional time beyond that as well. Fourth-stringer Trenton Cannon is the only healthy running back left on San Francisco's roster, though the extent of the injuries sustained by rookies Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) and Trey Sermon (concussion) has yet to be determined.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Suffers ankle injury Hasty hurt his ankle during Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact One week after losing starting running back Raheem Mostert for the season with a knee injury, the entire 49ers backfield got banged up in some way Sunday. Hasty himself had nine touches for 59 yards from scrimmage before his departure in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, new starter Elijah Mitchell notched 19 touches for 53 total yards while tending to a shoulder injury, and Trey Sermon suffered a concussion following the first potential carry of his career, which was nullified because of an Eagles penalty.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Part of 49ers' RB trio Hasty is active alongside rookies Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon for Sunday's contest at Philadelphia.
Impact With Raheem Mostert out for the season due to a knee injury suffered Week 1, Hasty likely will be the 49ers' No. 2 RB moving forward behind the expected lead ballcarrier Mitchell. After Mostert went down last Sunday in Detroit, Mitchell took over and had 19 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Hasty received complementary work en route to two touches for 18 yards and one TD. Sermon, a 2021 third-round pick, will be available for the first game action of his career, but it remains to be seen how he'll mix in behind Mitchell and Hasty.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Scores in limited action Hasty received one carry for three yards and a touchdown while corralling his lone target for 15 yards in Sunday's 41-33 win over Detroit.
Impact In a bit of a surprising roster move, both Hasty and Elijah Mitchell jumped ahead of 2021 third-round pick Trey Sermon on the depth chart right before kickoff Sunday. Starter Raheem Mostert went down early with a knee injury and never returned, but it was Mitchell (104 yards, TD) who took over as lead back, leaving Hasty in a reserve/receiving role. The running back situation currently is fluid in San Francisco given the uncertainty regarding Mostert's status for Week 2 against the Eagles, but Hasty doesn't appear to be in a position to start given how the touches were divvied up against the Lions.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Gets nod over Sermon in opener Hasty is one of three San Francisco running backs active for Sunday's season opener in Detroit, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Impact The fact that Hasty is dressing for Week 1 is probably less of a surprise than the fact that third-round rookie Trey Sermon is in street clothes, considering that Sermon had been operating as the No. 2 back for most of training camp and the preseason. It's unclear if Sermon's healthy scratch is specific to the 49ers' Week 1 game plan or something that will also carry over to future contests, but regardless, Hasty and sixth-round rookie Elijah Mitchell will be on hand as the reserve options behind Raheem Mostert for the opener. While Mostert is expected to dominate the snaps and touches among the San Francisco backs, Hasty and Mitchell are both expected to see some involvement on offense, especially if the game turns non-competitive in the second half. As an undrafted rookie last season, Hasty appeared in eight games and averaged 3.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown on 39 totes.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Rips off two scores Hasty rushed six times for 55 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-10 preseason win over the Raiders.
Impact Hasty made a strong impression in the 49ers' final preseason game as he competes for a roster bid. His main competition, Wayne Gallman, also had a strong outing (13 carries for 60 yards), so the final decision will likely come down to what type of back the team needs at the back end of the rotation. Whoever wins the job battle will likely be used in a reserve/special teams role heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Lions.
AUGUST 30, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles on ground Hasty rushed 19 times for 58 yards and secured all three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 15-10 preseason win over the Chargers.
Impact Hasty had a rough go of things on the ground, struggling to find room to operate despite getting a team-high 19 carries. It didn't help that Wayne Gallman, one of his competitors for a roster spot, ran the ball with consistent effectiveness against the same defense. Hasty still does bring his receiving skills to the table -- which he flashed Sunday -- so this shouldn't doom his roster bid chances. The competition for the backup job will continue into next week's preseason tilt against the Raiders on Sunday.

Impact Hasty initially was in line to slot third on the depth chart prior to the acquisitions of veteran Wayne Gallman and rookies Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell. Now the shifty receiving back will either have to impress during camp or have injuries open up opportunities to earn snaps to begin the season. Barrows notes the 49ers' poor injury history with backs in recent years could result in the 24-year-old making the main roster at some point, even if he starts on the practice squad. Unless thd team's running back landscape changes, Hasty will head into training camp stripped of fantasy value.
JULY 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Aiming for No. 3 spot Hasty (collarbone) is the favorite to secure San Francisco's No. 3 running back job, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Impact Raheem Mostert (ankle) will be back for the 2021 campaign, and Jeff Wilson signed a one-year extension back in January. With Tevin Coleman now a Jet, the door is open for Hasty to secure the No. 3 job in the backfield. However, his projected role will get cloudy if the 49ers select a running back in the upcoming draft. As an undrafted rookie out of Baylor, Hasty flashed some upside in limited action last year, rushing 39 times for 148 yards and a touchdown and catching seven of eight passes for 33 yards. Both Mostert and Wilson had injury issues last season, so Hasty could be a worthwhile stash for fantasy purposes. Coach Kyle Shanahan often mixes up his backfield rotation too, and his scheme provides high upside for the lead back.

FEBRUARY 8, 2021 • NINERNOISE.COM
Gets some run as rookie Hasty played in seven games during his rookie season, finishing with 148 rushing yards and a touchdown on 39 carries and 33 more yards on seven receptions.
Impact San Francisco protected Hasty on its practice squad to begin the year, and the undrafted rookie was quickly called upon after several injuries opened up playing time. The 24-year-old wasn't asked to do too much, but he was able to display his shiftiness and soft hands in limited action. The 49ers will have decisions to make regarding a couple of aging veteran backs this offseason, so Hasty may have an opportunity to earn a backfield rotation spot (or at least another shot on the practice squad) during training camp.
JANUARY 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Heads to injured reserve The 49ers placed Hasty (collarbone) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact Now that he's on IR, Hasty will need to remain there for three weeks before the team can open a 21-day window to return to the active roster. With the 49ers on bye Week 11, he'll only miss two games as a result, making his next potential appearance lines up to be Sunday, Dec. 13 against Washington. Currently, San Francisco has one healthy RB (Austin Walter), two injured backs -- Tevin Coleman (knee) and Jerick McKinnon (neck) -- on the active roster and three backfield options -- Raheem Mostert (ankle), Jeff Wilson (ankle) and Hasty -- on IR.

Hurts shoulder against Saints Hasty (collarbone) left Sunday's game against the Saints to go to the locker room, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Hasty rushed three times for 13 yards and caught both of his targets for minus-4 yards before exiting. Jerick McKinnon should handle an even larger portion of San Francisco's backfield snaps with the backup running back unavailable, and Hasty can be considered questionable to return at this time.
NOVEMBER 16, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Underwhelms in loss Hasty rushed just four times for three yards and brought in both of his targets for 10 yards in the 49ers' 34-17 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. He also returned one kickoff...
Impact Hasty was set to share backfield duties with Jerick McKinnon in what was assumed to be a more even split, but ultimately, the latter logged eight more carries. Hasty had seen no fewer than nine rush attempts in the three games prior to Thursday's, so the downturn in his opportunities against Green Bay's vulnerable rush defense was especially discouraging. Hasty will hope to garner more total touches in a Week 10 battle against the Saints in 10 days if both Raheem Mostert (IR-ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) remain out for that contest.
NOVEMBER 6, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sharing work with McKinnon on TNF Hasty and Jerick McKinnon are expected to share the load at running back Thursday against the Packers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area reports.
Impact With Tevin Coleman (knee) exiting early in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, Hasty and McKinnon finished the contest as the 49ers' only healthy backs. McKinnon held a 35-29 advantage in snaps, but Hasty was the clear lead option on the ground, carrying 12 times (for 29 yards and a touchdown) to McKinnon's three (for minus-1 yard and a touchdown). The 49ers have ruled Coleman out for Thursday's game while Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) remain on injured reserve, so another Hasty and McKinnon timeshare should be on tap Week 9. Unless the 49ers fall behind big early and are forced into catchup mode, Hasty is a good bet to earn double-digit carries for the second week in a row.

Leads backfield in touches Hasty carried the ball 12 times for 29 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Seahawks. He added one reception for two yards.
Impact Hasty accounted for 12 of the team's 22 rushing attempts, leading the backfield. However, he failed to produce much with the opportunity, averaging only 2.4 yards per attempt with his longest rush going for only five yards. Hasty salvaged his performance with a one-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter. With Tevin Coleman (knee) suffering a setback, Hasty should serve a substantial role again in a Week 9 matchup against the Packers on Thursday.
