Phillip Dorsett - Minimal role in win Dorsett was not targeted over 11 snaps in Week 5's 13-6 win over Jacksonville.
Impact With Chris Moore (hip) unavailable, this looked like a good spot for Dorsett to earn more playing time, but instead the little-used Tyler Johnson (25 snaps) was the beneficiary. Dorsett has appeared in four games this season, catching one pass on four targets for 15 yards over 39 snaps.

Impact Johnson was active for the second consecutive week and was handed the third-highest snap count among wideouts, moving ahead of Phillip Dorsett on the depth chart. He took the role that would normally go to the inactive Chris Moore (hip). If the Texans don't have to pass, they won't, so targets among the position group are scarce and usually go to Brandin Cooks or Nico Collins.

O.J. Howard - Minor role in Week 5 Howard did not catch his lone target in Week 5's 13-6 win over the Jaguars.
Impact Howard has moved to the top of the depth chart -- he played a position-high 46 snaps against Jacksonville -- but he's been limited to one target in three of five games. With Pharaoh Brown (now with Cleveland) gone and Brevin Jordan nursing an ankle injury, there's an opportunity for a Houston tight end to step up, but it's been practice team member Jordan Akins reaping the benefits with seven grabs on eight targets for 86 yards the last three weeks.

Impact King has logged multiple tackles and pass breakups throughout all six of his games this campaign. Derek Stingley remains the team's No. 1 right cornerback with 30 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups through his six games. He'll continue to compete for the starting role in Houston.

Ka'imi Fairbairn - Converts two FGs from deep Fairbairn was successful on both field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Sunday's 13-6 win over Jacksonville in Week 5.
Impact Points were at a premium, and Fairbairn came through for the Texans. He nailed kicks from 50 and 51 yards in the second quarter -- his first two attempts of the season from the 50 and beyond. The fifth-year placekicker has a history of making long-distance kicks, connecting on 67 percent (20 of 30) of his attempts from 50 and beyond during his NFL career.

Derek Stingley Jr. - First pick at crucial time Stingley recorded seven tackles, an interception and two passes defensed in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jaguars in Week 5.
Impact The interception was the first in the NFL for Stingley, who thwarted a Jacksonville drive with an end-zone pick. The rookie first-round pick battled an arm injury during the practice week but played all 75 snaps on defense.

Jordan Akins - Has impact in win Akins caught two of two targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jaguars in Week 5.
Impact Akins played just 12 snaps but once again made an impact for Houston. He was on the receiving end of a 3rd-and-10 catch-and-run that moved the chains on the Texans' game-deciding drive in the fourth quarter. This was the third time that Akins was elevated from the practice squad, and Houston will need to sign him if it wants him to continue to play. That should be a no-brainer for a couple of reasons. He's the most consistent receiving threat at tight end -- leading the room with 86 yards -- and the club released Pharaoh Brown (now with Cleveland).

Brandin Cooks - Subdued output in win Cooks caught four of six targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over Jacksonville in Week 5.
Impact There wasn't much happening in Houston's passing attack, which led to a season-low targets and yards for Cooks. He's still averaging more than eight targets per game, but the coaches realize there's a better chance to win games if quarterback Davis Mills can hand the ball off to Dameon Pierce. After 22 targets and 136 yards in Weeks 1 and 2, Cooks has a total of 20 targets (13 catches) for 99 yards the last three weeks.

Rex Burkhead - Six targets/touches in win Burkhead had three carries for 15 yards and caught two of three targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jaguars in Week 5.
Impact Burkhead had a season-low 12 snaps (21 percent), as the coaches have become more trusting of lead back Dameon Pierce, who was on the field for the game's decisive drive in the fourth quarter. Burkhead is still around to spell Pierce, but this should be the rookie's team for the rest of the season.

Impact Collins led the Texans in receiving for the second week in a row, seeing his role increase at the expense of veteran co-starter Brandin Cooks (four receptions for 20 yards). The 2021 third-round pick has flashed some big-play ability to go along with his 6-foot-4 frame. That said, Collins is entering a bye week and will still have a struggling Davis Mills under center when the Texans take on the Raiders in Week 7.

Davis Mills - Uninspiring in win Mills completed 16 of 24 pass attempts for 140 yards and rushed twice for two yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jaguars.
Impact Mills led Houston to its first victory of the regular season, but likely didn't lead any fantasy teams to glory with a mediocre stat line. On a positive note, the 23-year-old did not turn the ball over after throwing four interceptions over his previous two outings. The Texans enter a bye week following Sunday's win, so Mills will return to action against the Raiders on Oct. 23.

Dameon Pierce - Powers way to big day Pierce rushed 26 times for 99 yards and a touchdown while catching three of five targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 13-6 win over Jacksonville.
Impact Pierce dominated the backfield touches (26 of 29) and plodded his way to a third-straight game with at least 80 rushing yards and a score. The red-hot rookie is averaging 94.8 rushing yards since taking over as the Texans' lead back in Week 2. With a combination of results and touches, Pierce should be considered a must-start asset when Houston returns from its bye and takes on Las Vegas in Week 7.
