Impact At least for one week, Edwards narrowly held the lead in total touches over rookie Kimani Vidal, who registered just four carries for 20 yards in a weird game script that saw the Chargers trail the time of possession battle by nearly 12 minutes. Obviously neither running back had an exceptional fantasy day, but it's worth noting Hassan Haskins was the clear third back as predicted fumbling on his lone carry of the day. Edwards, Vidal and company won't have it much easier next week against a tough Chiefs defense in Kansas City.

Impact Edwards has technically started in two of his seven appearances on the season, but Dobbins has been the clear lead option out of the Los Angeles backfield, besting Edwards in both rushing volume (766 yards and eight touchdowns to Edwards' 206 and one) and efficiency (4.8 yards per carry to 3.3 YPC). With Rapoport relaying that Dobbins' availability beyond the Week 13 contest in Atlanta is up in the air, Edwards could be in store for a multi-game run as Los Angeles' primary ballcarrier. However, Dobbins' expected absence is unlikely to open up more work on passing downs for Edwards, with those reps instead likely to go to rookie Kimani Vidal, whose 5-foot-8, 215-pound frame and superior speed makes him a strong candidate to fill a change-of-pace role. The Chargers also have Hassan Haskins on hand, but like Edwards, the 6-foot-2, 228-pound Haskins is better suited for early down or short-yardage work.

Impact Starter J.K. Dobbins went down with a knee injury in the first half of Monday's narrow defeat, affording Edwards extra play in the second half. The 29-year-old Edwards didn't post big numbers outside of a short touchdown run, but he could be worth adding if Dobbins is forced to miss time. If that becomes the case, Edwards would make a great add in leagues where he is available ahead of next Sunday's tilt against Atlanta.

With no reported setbacks, it's plausible that Edwards' limitations Wednesday were a case of workload management in the wake of his prior layoff. The running back now has two more chances to upgrade to full practice participation ahead of Sunday night's game against the Bengals.

Impact It was a productive return for Edwards, who missed the previous four games due to an ankle injury. The bruising running back saw three red-zone carries, but most of them came closer to the 10-yard line as opposed to true goal-line work. Hassan Haskins was also given a chance to stick it to his former team, punching a one-yard touchdown in on the team's final touchdown drive that effectively ended the game. Edwards was looked at on the sideline briefly in the second half and his production did fall off in the final 30 minutes, but that could easily be attributed to the Chargers wanting to get J.K.
