Seahawks QB Alex McGough Passes to RB Deejay Dallas For Touchdown vs. Las Vegas Raiders in Preseason Week One

Competing for third-down role
Dallas could land the third-down role if his pass-blocking skills show improvement, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Impact
As long as Chris Carson is healthy, Dallas likely won't receive many carries. Even if Carson gets hurt, both Rashaad Penny and Alex Collins will likely take over a good chunk of the ground game. Dallas is likely the best route runner in the backfield, however, his pass-blocking skills weren't good enough last year to warrant much playing time. As it stands, Travis Homer (calf) likely still has the edge on third downs because he has adequately protected Russell Wilson in the past, but Homer's currently on the preseason PUP list, opening the door for Dallas to secure a heightened role.

In mix for backup job
Dallas will compete with Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer and Alex Collins for depth roles behind Chris Carson in the Seattle backfield, Brandon Gustafson of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
Impact
A fourth-round pick last spring, Dallas finished his rookie year with 34/108/2 on the ground and 17/111/1 on 20 targets, playing 12 of 16 regular-season games. He even made starts in Weeks 8 and 9 when both Carson and Carlos Hyde (now with Jacksonville) were injured, with those two games accounting for all three TDs on the year. However, Dallas managed just 72 rushing yards and 25 receiving yards between the two starts, and he averaged only 3.2 YPC for the year. He could now compete with Penny and Collins for carries off the bench, while Homer is the top competition for playing time on passing downs.

Minimal usage as rookie
Dallas carried 34 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns and caught 17 of 20 targets for 111 yards and a touchdown over 12 games in the 2020 season.
Impact
Dallas started Weeks 8 and 9 because both Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde were out with injuries, and he produced 97 yards from scrimmage and three total scores between those two games. When Carson and Hyde were healthy this year, Dallas was often left out of the game plan or scratched. His 3.2 yards per carry isn't exciting, but the Seahawks favored Dallas over Travis Homer (knee) in the run game. Dallas' projection for next season can't be determined until we know if Carson and/or Hyde -- both free agents in March -- will return.

Inactive for Saturday
Dallas is listed as inactive for Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Rams.
Impact
While it is unclear as to why Dallas is listed as inactive as his ankle seems to be fully recovered, the 22-year-old will not suit up for Saturday. Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde will continue to lead the backfield as the Seahawks take on the Rams.

Full speed ahead
Dallas (ankle) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Impact
Dallas is back to full speed less than three weeks removed from suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain. The rookie fourth-rounder will be available for Saturday's wild-card game against the Rams, but he'll likely stick to a special-teams role, as both Carlos Hyde and Rashaad Penny are also healthy. The trio will serve in a change-of-pace role behind bell cow Chris Carson (foot).

Logs limited session
Dallas (ankle) was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Dallas practiced for the first time since suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain in Week 15. The Seahawks won't rush the rookie back because they have enough backfield depth now that Carlos Hyde and Rashaad Penny are both healthy ahead of Saturday's wild-card game against the Rams. Chris Carson (foot) will command a lion's share of the workload even if Dallas does suit up.

Sitting out Week 17
Dallas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
Dallas will miss a second straight game. Carlos Hyde (illness) is also questionable with flu-like symptoms. Chris Carson is set to lead the Seahawks' backfield in the season finale, and Rashaad Penny should serve as the No. 2 if Hyde is ultimately ruled out.

Absent from another practice
Dallas (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Dallas appears unlikely to play in the season finale against the 49ers. It's unclear how the Seahawks' backfield will shape up in Week 17, as every running back on the active roster is on the injury report. Both Dallas and Carlos Hyde (illness) missed practice Thursday, while Chris Carson (foot) and Rashaad Penny (knee) both were limited participants.

Unable to practice Wednesday
Dallas (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Dallas is recovering from the Grade 3 ankle sprain he suffered in the Week 15 win over Washington; it seems unlikely that he plays in the season finale against the 49ers. With Carlos Hyde's (illness) status uncertain as well, Rashaad Penny could see some additional work behind Chris Carson (foot) on Sunday.

Unavailable Sunday
Dallas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
The 22-year-old sustained a Grade 3 ankle sprain during last week's win over Washington, so it's no surprise to see him ruled out this weekend. Dallas may also be sidelined for the final game of the regular season next week. Rashaad Penny should continue to work as Seattle's No. 3 running back down the stretch.

Sits out Thursday's practice
Dallas (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Dallas emerged from this past Sunday's win at Washington with a Grade 3 ankle sprain, which seems likely to keep him sidelined for the rest of the regular season. Plus, Dallas is buried on Seattle's running back depth chart with Rashaad Penny back from IR, so the rookie fourth-rounder isn't necessarily needed at the moment.

Sits out to start week
Dallas (ankle) was a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Dallas was diagnosed with a Grade 3 ankle sprain following this past Sunday's 20-15 win over Washington, so his absence from practice isn't surprising. He should be considered a long shot to play in Week 16 against the Rams. If he's indeed out, Chris Carson (foot), Carlos Hyde and Rashaad Penny will be the only running backs suiting up.

Nursing Grade 3 sprain
Dallas suffered a Grade 3 ankle sprain during Sunday's 20-15 win over Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact
The rookie fourth-round pick is dealing with a serious ankle sprain, an injury that will likely cause him to spent a multi-week stint on the sideline. That leaves Seattle a bit shallow for running back depth, with Travis Homer (knee) already on IR, but the team does have three quality options remaining in the form of Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde and Rashaad Penny.

Diagnosed with sprained ankle
Dallas suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's 20-15 win over Washington, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Dallas underwent an X-ray after being carted off the field Sunday, but he received encouraging news by avoiding a fracture. He could certainly miss time still, and a more definitive timeline should be provided when the practice week begins Wednesday. The Seahawks have the backfield depth to absorb Dallas' absence, as Rashaad Penny returned from the PUP list this week to serve behind Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde.

Carted off Sunday
Dallas won't return to Sunday's game against Washington due to an ankle injury, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
It appears to be a serious injury as the 22-year-old was carted off the field, though the specifics of the issue remain unclear. Rashaad Penny was activated from the PUP list Saturday and will work as Seattle's No. 3 tailback with Dallas sidelined.

No tread until garbage time
Dallas rushed four times for seven yards in Sunday's 40-3 win over the Jets.
Impact
Dallas didn't log a carry until coach Pete Carroll opted to rest the starters at the end of the third quarter. When the rookie got on the field, he did little with his opportunities. As long as Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde are healthy, Dallas will be kept out of the game plan. That will be emphasized further once Rashaad Penny (knee) returns to the lineup.
