Impact Montgomery got shaken up in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss, prior to which he had 14 carries for 30 yards and three catches for 12 yards (on three targets). The second-year pro now will need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before retaking the field, which puts his availability for Week 10's Monday Night Football contest against the Vikings in some jeopardy. With Tarik Cohen (knee) already out for the year with a torn ACL, the Bears only have Cordarrelle Patterson, Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce behind Montgomery.

Impact For the first time since Week 2, Montgomery rushed for over 3.4 yards per carry, as he consistently was able to fight through initial contact to produce positive yardage. He was also targeted five times, which represents the fifth straight game he's had that many looks in the passing game, and he continues to perform as a volume-based running back option with a solid scoring floor for fantasy managers.

Nearly 20 touches Montgomery rushed 14 times for 48 yards and caught all five of his targets for 21 yards in Monday night's 24-10 loss to the Rams.

Impact Montgomery struggled to get much going on the ground against a swarming Los Angeles front seven. Fortunately, the tailback picked up a handful of receptions to bolster his output, including a few with the Bears chasing the game late. Montgomery has now caught at least four passes in three straight outings, but with an average of just 45 rushing yards per game over that span, his production leaves a lot to be desired. However, the sledding doesn't appear any more favorable in Week 8, as he'll be pitted against a Saints defense that's allowed the fourth-fewest rushing yards per game.

Impact Fantasy managers were likely disappointed that Montgomery barely cracked three yards per carry against the second-most generous fantasy defense to opposing running backs, and unfortunately, he was unable to find the end zone on consecutive goal-line carries before Nick Foles eventually scored on the next play. Since taking over a full-time role in the backfield, Montgomery is averaging fewer than three yards per carry, but he's posted at least 30 receiving yards in each of those contests, making him a top-24 running back based on weekly volume.

Impact Montgomery had very little room to run against a Buccaneers defense that's been among the stingiest in the league against opposing running backs, though he was able to pile up a number of short receptions while also scoring on a goal-line carry to give him a solid fantasy day. Since the team lost Tarik Cohen (knee) for the season, Montgomery has seen most of the backfield work, and he should continue to see enough volume to be a high-floor fantasy starter.
