Jones was able to avoid any giveaways despite fumbling twice in this game, though turnovers have cost him dearly in his 21 outings as a starter. He entered Sunday's game with an abysmal 7:9 TD:INT and five fumbles as the Giants stood at 1-7 on the season. Jones has shown athleticism with four performances of 45-plus rushing yards this season, plus he has displayed explosive passing ability at times. Preventing turnovers is the area of his game that requires most rapid improvement if Jones is to stick as the starter in New York. He still carries a career record of 1-16 against all other NFL teams besides Washington heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Eagles' No. 4 pass defense.

Impact Jones endured another turbulent outing ending in narrow defeat. The quarterback started with a seven-yard touchdown to Dion Lewis, but his play afterward was mostly marred by barely missing or not spotting teammates open on deep balls, as well as continued bad decision-making under pressure. With two more interceptions, Jones now trails only Carson Wentz in turnovers, but to his credit, Jones rallied the Giants with fourth-down heroics and a beautiful, 19-yard touchdown toss on their final drive. That put New York a two-point conversion away from forcing overtime, but Jones' ensuing attempt to Lewis was broken up with under 30 seconds remaining. Overall, it was an unfortunately familiar performance for Jones, who'll now turn his attention to a winnable Week 9 matchup against Washington.

Impact Jones' night, and the Giants season thus far as a whole, could largely be defined by a pair of individual moments within the back-and-forth affair. The first occurred in the third quarter, when the QB bolted upfield from the pocket and appeared to have a clear path to a TD before tripping himself up at the Eagles' eight-yard line. While New York would ultimately score on that drive, Jones then saw his defense give up a pair of touchdowns on consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter, and he then lost control of the ball on a sack with 28 seconds left while trying to drive the Giants into field-goal range while down by a point. Jones also has his triumphant moments in the form of scoring strikes to Golden Tate and the returning Sterling Shepard (toe) in the first and fourth quarters, respectively. New York would likely not have been in the unfavorable last-drive position it found itself in had Evan Engram corralled a perfectly thrown downfield pass from Jones with 2:14 remaining. Jones' late miscue ultimately snuffed out any hopes of a victory, and he'll now look to regroup and prepare for a tough Week 8 Monday night showdown against the aggressive Buccaneers defense.
