INJURIES

Officially doubtful for Week 13 The Giants list Jones (hamstring) as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
Impact As anticipated, New York doesn't plan on having Jones available Sunday while he works back from the right hamstring strain he sustained in last week's win over the Bengals, but he at least avoided being ruled out for the contest after practicing Friday in a limited capacity, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. While that bodes well for Jones' chances of playing next week versus the Cardinals, he'll likely cede Week 13 starting duties to Colt McCoy, who replaced Jones in the win over Cincinnati and handled first-team reps at Friday's practice, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. The Giants are expected to add either Clayton Thorson or Alex Tanney to the 53-man roster Saturday to serve as McCoy's backup this weekend.

Another missed practice Jones (hamstring) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact According to Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York, Jones was seen working on the side with the team's training staff, but the activity wasn't enough to result in drills in practice. The Giants have yet to make a definitive ruling on Jones' status for Sunday's game at Seattle, but with no activity so far this week, he's trending in the wrong direction. If Jones sits out Week 13, the Giants will go with Colt McCoy under center.

No practice Wednesday Jones (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jones avoided suffering a major hamstring injury during Sunday's win at Cincinnati, giving him a shot to suit up Week 13 at Seattle. That said, Jones wasn't present for the open portion of Wednesday's session, and he eventually went down as a non-participant to kick off the week of prep. He'll look to get on the field in some capacity Thursday or Friday, but if he eventually needs time off, Jones will yield starting duties to Colt McCoy, who took on most of the first-team reps Wednesday.

Avoids major injury Jones (hamstring) has a chance to suit up against Seattle in Week 13, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Jones was forced out of last weekend's win over the Bengals due to a hamstring injury, and while it still appears that he could be in danger of missing time, the second-year signal-caller has at least avoided a severe injury. It sounds like the final decision on Jones' availability versus Seattle will come down to what he's able to do in practice this week. If it's determined that Jones needs more rest, backup Colt McCoy will likely be called upon to slot back in under center. According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Jones is considered unlikely to face the Seahawks.

Could miss time Jones suffered a "pretty bad" hamstring injury during Sunday's 19-17 victory at Cincinnati that may force him to miss some time, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Jones logged just four offensive snaps in two stints after injuring his right hamstring in the third quarter, otherwise yielding QB duties to backup Colt McCoy. Afterward, coach Joe Judge told Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York that Jones was slated for an MRI and additional testing, and it appears likely the Giants will be without the second-year signal-caller for at least one game. Expect clarity on Jones' health to emerge in due time.

Slated for MRI Coach Joe Judge said Jones will undergo testing on his right hamstring following Sunday's 19-17 win in Cincinnati, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. "We'll take a look...
Impact After grabbing at his right hamstring at the conclusion of a seven-yard run in the third quarter, Jones was evaluated on the sideline for a spell and eventually cleared to return by the Giants' training staff. However, he lasted just two plays before leaving the game for good. An MRI on Monday may reveal the extent of the injury, and beyond that point his activity will need to be watched ahead of a Week 13 road matchup with the Seahawks. If Jones requires any time away from the field, Colt McCoy will direct the offense.

Hurts hamstring Sunday Jones injured his right hamstring during the third quarter of Sunday's game at Cincinnati, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
Impact Jones appeared to tweak the hamstring at the end of a seven-yard run. Two plays later, he was unable to step into a third-down throw and left the game. Upon examination and doing some dropbacks on the sideline, he returned to the contest, only to last two more snaps before heading to the bench again. Per Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger, Jones is questionable to return, but as long as he's off the field, Colt McCoy will helm the Giants offense.

Impact Jones set the tone for the Giants offensively on the first drive, connecting with Darius Slayton for a 22-yard gain prior to running in a 34-yard touchdown. While he didn't post massive numbers through air, Jones avoided turnovers and connected with a number of his receiving weapons to log four passes of 20 yards or more. Jones has led the Giants to two consecutive victories, completing 44 of 62 pass attempts for 456 yards, two total touchdowns and no turnovers during that span. The team now heads into their Week 11 bye.

Leads Giants to second win of year Jones completed 23 of 34 pass attempts for 212 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions during Sunday's 23-20 win against Washington. He added four rushing yards on six attempts.
Impact So continues the trend of Jones' dominance against his divisional foe Washington, as he pushes his record to 4-0 against the Football Team since entering the NFL in 2019. Jones was able to avoid any giveaways despite fumbling twice in this game, though turnovers have cost him dearly in his 21 outings as a starter. He entered Sunday's game with an abysmal 7:9 TD:INT and five fumbles as the Giants stood at 1-7 on the season. Jones has shown athleticism with four performances of 45-plus rushing yards this season, plus he has displayed explosive passing ability at times. Preventing turnovers is the area of his game that requires most rapid improvement if Jones is to stick as the starter in New York. He still carries a career record of 1-16 against all other NFL teams besides Washington heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Eagles' No. 4 pass defense.

Inconsistent in another narrow loss Jones completed 25 of 41 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Monday night's 25-23 loss to the Buccaneers. He also rushed three times for 20 yards.
Impact Jones endured another turbulent outing ending in narrow defeat. The quarterback started with a seven-yard touchdown to Dion Lewis, but his play afterward was mostly marred by barely missing or not spotting teammates open on deep balls, as well as continued bad decision-making under pressure. With two more interceptions, Jones now trails only Carson Wentz in turnovers, but to his credit, Jones rallied the Giants with fourth-down heroics and a beautiful, 19-yard touchdown toss on their final drive. That put New York a two-point conversion away from forcing overtime, but Jones' ensuing attempt to Lewis was broken up with under 30 seconds remaining. Overall, it was an unfortunately familiar performance for Jones, who'll now turn his attention to a winnable Week 9 matchup against Washington.
