GAME LOG

INJURIES

Gets questionable tag for Week 11 McCoy (pectoral) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
Impact According to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, McCoy upgraded to full participation in practice Friday after limited showings Wednesday and Thursday, so the veteran signal-caller will more than likely be ready to go come Sunday. The bigger question is whether he'll pick up a third consecutive start, or if he'll revert to his customary backup role in the event Kyler Murray (ankle) returns from a two-game absence. After closing the week with a pair of limited practices, Murray is being viewed as a game-time decision, so clarity on McCoy's Week 11 role may not come until Arizona unveils its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. In his previous two turns as starter, McCoy completed 33 of 46 throws (71.7 percent) for 356 yards (7.7 YPA) and a 1:1 TD:INT.

Logs another limited practice McCoy (pectoral) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
Impact Both of the Cardinals' top two quarterbacks are dealing with injuries, with regular starter Kyler Murray also limited due to an ankle sprain. Murray has missed two games in a row due to the injury, and McCoy, who has earned starts on both occasions, was knocked out of this past Sunday's loss to the Panthers with a strained pectoral. If healthy enough to play Sunday in Seattle, Murray will direct the offense, but McCoy and Chris Streveler are the options to cover for him if he needs more time to heal.

Limited by pectoral injury McCoy (pectoral) was limited at practice Wednesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact McCoy has filled in for an absent Kyler Murray (ankle) for most of the past two games, completing 33 of 46 passes for 356 yards, one touchdown and one interception while turning eight carries into 22 yards. However, McCoy made an early exit this past Sunday against the Panthers and eventually was diagnosed with a strained pectoral. Per Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site, coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that McCoy is "OK," while Murray "has just gotten better every day," but "we shall see how it progresses." Arizona's quarterback situation remains fluid, with any of Murray, McCoy or Chris Streveler potential starting signal-callers for the team Sunday at Seattle.

Diagnosed with strain McCoy was diagnosed Monday with a pectoral strain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact McCoy was removed from Sunday's loss to the Panthers in the third quarter and was unable to return to the contest. However, he doesn't appear to be dealing with a major injury, and he'll likely be available to start Week 11 against Seattle if Kyler Murray (ankle) isn't cleared to return from a two-game absence.

Injury is to pectoral Coach Kliff Kingsbury clarified after Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Panthers that McCoy left the game due to a pectoral injury, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact The severity of McCoy's injury is yet to be determined, but the quarterback was unable to come back into the game after initially being deemed questionable to return. If neither McCoy nor Kyler Murray (ankle) are ready to return to action against the Seahawks in Week 11, the Cardinals will presumably turn to Chris Streveler, who replaced McCoy against Carolina.

Sustains chest injury McCoy suffered a chest injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
Impact McCoy got banged up on a sack and had to yield the offense to fellow reserve Chris Streveler with Kyler Murray (ankle) missing his second consecutive contest. Prior to his exit, McCoy completed 11 of 20 passes for 107 yards and one interception and had one carry for minus-1 yard.

Getting another spot start Sunday McCoy will be the Cardinals' starting quarterback in place of Kyler Murray (ankle) for Sunday's contest against the Panthers, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Impact Murray appeared to be a bit healthier this week than he was during Week 9 prep, actually making an appearance on the practice field as a limited participant Friday. The Cardinals took a decision on Murray down to the wire but ultimately opted to keep him sidelined due to the sprained ankle he suffered during a Week 8 loss to the Packers. McCoy fared well in place of Murray last Sunday at San Francisco, completing 22 of 26 passes for 249 yards and one touchdown while supplying 23 more yards on seven carries.

Another start likely on tap McCoy appears on track to make a second straight start Sunday against the Panthers with top quarterback Kyler Murray (ankle) listed as questionable but considered unlikely to play,...
Impact Just like last week, the Cardinals are viewing Murray as a game-day decision, though the third-year signal-caller appears to be at least slightly healthier for Week 10 after turning in a limited practice Friday. In any case, Murray doesn't seem to have demonstrated enough progress in his recovery from the sprained ankle to leave the Cardinals optimistic that he'll be available to play, so McCoy will be prepared to make another start after he proved to be an efficient game manager (22-for-26 for 249 yards and a touchdown and no turnovers) in the team's Week 9 win over the 49ers. Arizona plans to take a decision on Murray's status up to game time, but assuming Murray is included among the team's inactive list prior to the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, McCoy will be backed up by Chris Streveler. As was the case against the 49ers, McCoy could be working with a depleted pool of talent at the skill-positions; running back Chase Edmonds (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, while top wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is listed as questionable but considered unlikely to play.

Efficient in Sunday's win McCoy completed 22 of 26 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown and gained 23 yards on seven carries in Sunday's 31-17 win over the 49ers.
Impact Getting the start in place of Kyler Murray (ankle), McCoy mostly relied on the Cards' running game to keep the chains moving, but the veteran QB made few mistakes when he did need to air it out. Assuming Murray is able to return to the lineup in Week 10 against the Panthers, McCoy will return to his backup duties.

Spot start Sunday McCoy will start for an inactive Kyler Murray (ankle) on Sunday at San Francisco, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Impact Arizona has opted to keep Murray in street clothes while he tends to a medial ankle sprain, allowing McCoy to earn his first start in a Cardinals uniform. In 47 career appearances (30 starts) with five different teams, McCoy has averaged 137.3 yards per game and tossed 30 touchdowns versus 28 interceptions. But in this outing, he won't be afforded the luxuries of DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring, inactive) and A.J. Green (reserve/COVID-19 list), meaning his options at wide receiver are Christian Kirk, Rondale Moore, Antoine Wesley, Andy Isabella and Greg Dortch.
