Chris Godwin Jr. - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Another lackluster showing in Week 6 loss Godwin caught four of eight targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 26-19 overtime loss to the Steelers.

Impact For the fifth time in six games to begin the season, Godwin caught either three or four passes, and all six of his yardage totals have been between 25 and 46 yards. The veteran wideout also has yet to score a TD in 2026, and his lackluster production has come whether Baker Mayfield (thumb) or rookie Jalon Daniels has been under center. Godwin will try to find a way to break out in Week 7 against the Panthers.

Four touches in Week 5 win Godwin secured all three targets for 37 yards and rushed once for three yards in the Buccaneers' 24-16 win over the Cowboys on Thursday night.

Impact Godwin continued to fill a complementary role in the air attack on a night when Jalon Daniels threw for a modest 189 yards. The veteran wideout has been confirmed to a short-area option for the most part whether it's been Baker Mayfield (thumb) or Daniels under center, as Godwin has just a 19-179-0 line on the season and two receptions of 20-plus yards heading into a Week 6 home matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Six catches in Week 4 loss Godwin brought in six of seven targets for 31 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-14 loss to the Packers on Sunday.

Impact Godwin led the Buccaneers in receptions and targets while finishing second in receiving yards on the afternoon. The latter total was especially nothing to write home about, but it was the byproduct of rookie Jalon Daniels throwing for only 148 yards in his NFL debut. Godwin and the rest of the Buccaneers' air attack currently have fairly dim prospects while Daniels takes his initial lumps at the NFL level, and with Baker Mayfield unlikely to return before November per latest reports, the veteran receiver has limited fantasy value for the foreseeable future.

Logs full practice Wednesday Godwin (ankle) was a full practice participant Thursday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Impact One day removed from logging no on-field work due to an ankle issue Wednesday, Godwin was able to handle every practice rep and thus is in the clear for Sunday's game against the Packers. Through three games this season, he has just a 10-111-0 line on 11 targets, and he'll now be on the receiving end of passes from undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels instead of Baker Mayfield for the next few weeks due to the latter's dislocated right thumb.

Returns to practice Thursday Godwin (ankle) is participating in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Impact It remains to be seen whether Godwin goes down as a full participant or limited participant Thursday, but any level of activity already marks a step in the right direction after the veteran wide receiver didn't take part in Wednesday's practice. Even if he alleviates any concerns about the ankle injury by Sunday's game against the Packers, Godwin will still be a risky fantasy option in the first start for undrafted rookie QB Jalon Daniels, who is filling in for Baker Mayfield (thumb).

OCTOBER 1 • ROTOWIRE

Not practicing due to ankle injury Godwin (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Impact Godwin, who has played in all three games thus far, is now dealing with an ankle injury that prevented him from practicing Wednesday. This could compound Tampa Bay's passing game issues, as the Buccaneers will already be without Baker Mayfield for the next few weeks. The severity of Godwin's ankle injury has yet to be disclosed, so his practice status in the coming days will be telling.

Another muted performance Godwin gathered in three of four targets for 25 yards during Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Vikings.

Impact Godwin ranked third among Buccaneers wide receivers in snap share (62 percent) behind Ted Hurst (75 percent) and Emeka Egbuka (74 percent) in Week 3, resulting in his least productive performance of the season. On top of that, Godwin hasn't been targeted more than four times in a game so far on the campaign. With undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels set to take over Tampa Bay's offense for at least a few contests in the wake of Baker Mayfield's dislocated right thumb, Godwin doesn't have an ideal situation in which to build momentum from week to week.

Little production again in Week 2 Godwin caught all three of his targets for 46 yards in Tampa Bay's 23-19 loss to the Browns on Sunday. He added 12 rushing yards on one attempt.

Impact Godwin's three targets were seventh on the team and "good" for just an 8.8 percent share on a day Baker Mayfield attempted 34 passes. However, the veteran wide receiver's 37 routes were just one fewer than Emeka Egbuka for the team lead. After several lower-body injuries to this point in his career, it's becoming a concern that Godwin may just not have it anymore at 30.5 years old. Through two games, he has seven catches for 86 scoreless yards and 15 rushing yards.

Catches four passes in Week 1 loss Godwin caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in the Bucs' 33-27 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He added three rushing yards on one carry.

Impact Godwin's 32 routes on Baker Mayfield's 36 dropbacks were second on the team behind Emeka Egbuka, who ran 33 routes, and Godwin was lined up in the slot 54.3 percent of the time, while Egbuka and Ted Hurst mainly played on the outside. Godwin was targeted just four times, however, finishing fourth on the team. Now 30 years old with multiple serious lower-body injuries in his career, it's fair to wonder how much explosiveness Godwin has left in his legs. He's a low-floor WR3/4 in fantasy ahead of next Sunday's date with the Browns.
