Leads backfield in debut
Robinson carried the ball nine times for 22 yards in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Titans.
Impact
Robinson made his NFL debut after missing the Commanders' first four games due to a leg injury he sustained during an attempted robbery Aug. 28. It was reported he would be on a pitch count as a result, but he still dominated touches out of the backfield by out-carrying Antonio Gibson 9-3. It has yet to be seen how efficient Robinson can be, but it appears that he should see plenty of opportunity moving forward.

Facing pitch count in NFL debut
Robinson (knee) is expected to play about 20 snaps in his NFL debut Sunday against the Titans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact
At least for Week 5, Antonio Gibson is expected to remain the Commanders' starting running back while Robinson, a rookie third-round pick out of Alabama, is eased back in with a limited snap count after missing the first four games of the season while recovering from the two gunshot wounds he sustained to his lower body in an Aug. 28 robbery attempt in Washington, D.C. The Commanders activated Robinson from the reserve/non-football injury list after he resumed practicing this week without any complications, and if he makes the most of the opportunities he receives Sunday, it may not be long before he supplants Gibson as the team's lead option on the ground. J.D. McKissic should also have a role on passing downs in what looks to be a three-man backfield committee for Washington this weekend.

Set to make debut
Robinson will be activated off the reserve/non-football injury list and is expected to make his season debut against the Titans on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact
The Commanders designated Robinson to return to practice earlier this week, setting the stage for Saturday's announcement. The rookie had allegedly earned the starting nod during the preseason prior to sustaining gunshot wounds in his right leg, which required surgery. Through the first four games of the season, both Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic have seen work as pass catchers, with the latter registering 19 receptions thus far in 2022. It seems likely the Commanders could ease Robinson back into the running back rotation, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the 23-year-old eventually take over as the two-down back with McKissic operating as the obvious pass catcher. That could leave Gibson completely out of the rotation, particularly since the Commanders have been relying on nominal No. 3 back Jonathan Williams for special teams work, although the team hasn't officially announced how the backfield will operate.
