Returns from PUP list The Jets activated Davis (undisclosed) from the PUP list Monday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.

Impact Davis has passed his physical and will now have just under two weeks to ramp up his practice activity ahead of Sept. 12's season opener against the Panthers. Coach Robert Saleh said late July that he expected Davis to potentially return by Week 2, but the starting safety may be ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Impact Davis played 10 games (six starts) as a rookie last season, recording 36 tackles and a pass breakup. The Jets signed Lamarcus Joyner this offseason, but Hughes believes that Davis has the edge in the safety competition. If Davis is able to earn the starting job outright, the 24-year-old could provide some IDP value.
