Impact Wingard's absence will leave the team thin at safety going forward, as Brandon Watson is the only healthy free safety dressed Thursday. Watson will step in as the starter Thursday, and Wingard will have an extra few days to recover before his team is back out there in Week 4 against Cincinnati.

Off of COVID list The Jaguars activated Wingard (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.

Impact Along with teammates (and roommates) Gardner Minshew and Michael Walker, Wingard found himself on the COVID list due to recent exposure to someone who tested positive for the virus. With his health not in question, Wingard can focus on locking down his roles as a depth safety and on special teams from a year ago.

Impact Undrafted out of Wyoming last season, Wingard played significant snaps Weeks 12-14 for an injured Ronnie Harrison but otherwise was almost exclusively a special-teamer. Overall, he finished with 30 tackles (22 solo), one sack and one forced fumble in 16 games. As the Jags kick off camp, Wingard will have to wait until he passes the required tests before he can join his teammates.
