Impact Collins started again in place of Chris Carson (neck) and turned in his best rushing performance of the season in a tight contest. The veteran back has generally performed well when called upon to replace a starter over the course of his career, and Sunday night was yet another example of that. With Carson being placed on IR this week, Collins will receive at least two more starts before the Seahawks' bye week. Based on the carry distribution (20 of 26 in favor of Collins), he should not be left on waiver wires if he is still available.

To get another start Collins is slated to be the Seahawks' lead back Sunday in Pittsburgh after the team placed Chris Carson (neck) on injured reserve Friday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Collins' workload has increased in each successive game since he made his season debut back in Week 2, both in terms of snap and touch counts. In Week 4, he merely got work at the expense of a healthy at the time Carson, while Collins was the starter in place of Carson last Thursday. During that two-game stretch, Collins earned 56 percent of the offensive snaps, but he's only averaged a modest 3.6 YPC on 25 rushes. On a positive note, his four catches have gone at a 14.8-yard clip, and he's scored one rushing TD. Behind Collins, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer will handle complementary roles while the Seahawks prepare for the potential activation of Rashaad Penny (calf) from IR for Week 7.

Impact Collins drew the start for Chris Carson (neck) and found running room at a premium against a Rams defense that previously had difficulties stopping opposing ground attacks. He was able to improve his fantasy tally somewhat with his pair of receptions, leading to a serviceable night from that perspective. Carson could well be back to his customary lead-back duties for a tough Week 6 road matchup against the tough Steelers run defense a week from Sunday, but Collins could still enjoy a solid complementary role in that scenario after logging 10 carries in Week 4 with his backfield mate available.

Impact Carson had a neck issue flare up earlier this week, which kept him from practicing Tuesday and Wednesday and will sideline him for this Week 5 NFC West showdown. Collins is slated to step in for Carson after showing something last Sunday in San Francisco, against whom he reeled off 44 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown to go with two catches (on two targets) for 34 yards. Through four games, Carson averaged 15 touches per game, so Collins should be able to approach that number in his spot start. Behind Collins, Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas are available for any reps that don't go to him.

Impact Collins has increased his snap share in each of the three games he's been active this season, culminating with a Week 4 performance in which he had 12 touches for 78 total yards and one touchdown in a victory at San Francisco. Carson was unable to practice Tuesday or Wednesday due to neck soreness and may be a game-time decision for Thursday's game, but Collins could be in line for anything from this past Sunday's workload (if Carson is active) or most of the early down work (if Carson sits).

Impact Chris Carson wasn't injured, but Collins still poached 10 carries and two targets to Carson's 13 carries and one target. Carson was capped at 13 carries for the third week in a row, and particularly if Collins keeps producing like this there might be room for him to produce off the bench. It's important to note that Carson's job security seems quite high, so if Collins manages to be useful in fantasy he'll still likely need to wait for Carson to have his turn first. Collins may have established himself as the top handcuff to Carson in the meantime, though.
