The Latest: Broncos' Bridgewater taken off on stretcher

Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was strapped down on a body board and carted off the field in the third quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday
DECEMBER 19, 2021 • Associated Press
Seahawks-Rams moved to Tuesday Collins (illness) and the Seahawks will no longer play the Rams on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
Impact Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within the Rams organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, Los Angeles will be able to restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. The two-day delay could also provide sufficient time for Collins to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list after he tested positive for the virus Thursday, with his potential availability hinging on whether or not he's experiencing any symptoms. Even if Collins is available, he'll likely be in store for a secondary role out of the backfield behind Rashaad Penny, who built some job security Week 14 while Collins (abdomen) and Adrian Peterson (back) sat out with injuries. Penny ignited a dormant Seattle ground game in the 33-13 win over the Texans, finishing with 137 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.

Tests positive, may play Sunday Collins' placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday was the result of a positive test, but he could still clear the necessary protocols in time to play Sunday against the Rams...
Impact Along with Collins, the Seahawks placed Tyler Lockett on the list Thursday after he too tested positive, but since both players are vaccinated, they'll have a shot at being available this weekend. Per Dan Graziano of ESPN.com, the NFL and NFLPA reached agreement Thursday on changes to the return-to-play COVID-19 protocol, which will allow players who are vaccinated and asymptomatic to rejoin their teams as soon as 24 hours after an initial positive test. The Seahawks haven't yet disclosed whether Collins was experiencing symptoms of the virus before landing on the list. If cleared to play this weekend, Collins would likely work in a limited role behind Rashaad Penny, who seemingly leapfrogged him on the depth chart after carrying 16 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 14 win over the Texans.

Goes on reserve/COVID-19 list The Seahawks placed Collins (abdomen) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Impact Per usual, Collins is tending to an injury to his midsection this week, and now he becomes the third Seahawk overall to be placed on the COVID-19 list along with Tyler Lockett (undisclosed) on Thursday and Gerald Everett earlier this season. If Collins can't play Sunday at the Rams, Seattle still will have some combination of Travis Homer (hamstring), DeeJay Dallas and practice squad member Adrian Peterson (lower back) behind the team's current top RB, Rashaad Penny.

Rams seek to continue winning ways against Seahawks

The Los Angeles Rams will try for their third straight win when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday
DECEMBER 16, 2021 • Associated Press
Puts in limited practice Collins (abdomen) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact Per usual, the Seahawks are managing Collins' reps due to an abdominal injury. After sitting out Week 13 with the issue, he returned this past Sunday in Houston and earned a 23 percent share of snaps on his way to eight touches for 17 yards from scrimmage. Collins took a back seat to Rashaad Penny, who turned 58 percent of snaps into 17 touches for 138 total yards and two touchdowns. As for the rest of the backfield, Travis Homer (calf/hamstring) was sidelined Week 14, DeeJay Dallas had two carries for 16 yards, and practice squad member Adrian Peterson wasn't elevated due to a lower-back injury. With Homer logging a full practice and Peterson returning to drills Wednesday, the backfield could be even more crowded behind Penny this weekend versus the Rams.

Takes backseat to Penny Collins rushed seven times for 16 yards and caught his lone target for one yard in Sunday's 33-13 win over the Texans.
Impact Collins returned to action after missing a game due to an abdominal injury. However, Rashaad Penny started the game and finished with a 57 percent snap share, ringing up 138 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the process. Meanwhile, Collins recorded 13 offensive snaps (23 percent). Penny appears to be the top back moving forward, though Collins will be the next man up if Penny falters.

Cleared for Sunday Collins (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Houston, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact Collins missed Seattle's Week 13 win over San Francisco with a groin injury he's been nursing for a couple months, allowing Adrian Peterson to step up and work in a committee with Rashaad Penny and Travis Homer (out/calf). With Homer out of the picture and Peterson not spotted at practice this week (he's technically still on the practice squad), Collins could be back in the lead runner role this Sunday, though he'd likely still share snaps with Penny and DeeJay Dallas.
DECEMBER 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited again Thursday Collins (abdomen) was limited in practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact Collins maintained his activity level for a second straight session, one day removed from coach Pete Carroll telling Brady Henderson of ESPN.com that the running back feels "considerably better" due to nagging injuries to his midsection. Friday's practice report may clear Collins outright for Week 14 action at Houston, but even if it doesn't he seems to be trending toward a return after sitting out this past Sunday against the 49ers. The Seahawks backfield may be some combination of Collins, Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas and potentially practice squad member Adrian Peterson this weekend, while Travis Homer's (calf/hamstring) status is up in the air after he missed Thursday's practice.

Seahawks RB Alex Collins returns to practice, with 'chance to be really active' in Seattle's game plan at Houston Alex Collins was listed as limited in Wednesday's practice. He sat out Sunday's win over the 49ers with an abdomen injury.
DECEMBER 9, 2021 • SEATTLETIMES.COM
Limited Wednesday Collins (abdomen) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact A surprise scratch for the Seahawks this past Sunday against the 49ers, Collins is back to his usual limited self on the team's first Week 14 practice report due to an abdominal issue. Head coach Pete Carroll told Brady Henderson of ESPN.com on Wednesday that Collins is "considerably better," indicating that the recent absence was beneficial for the running back's health. Elsewhere in the backfield, Travis Homer (calf/hamstring) was also limited Wednesday, Rashaad Penny and DeeJay Dallas were clear of Wednesday's report, and Adrian Peterson remains in the mix.

Should be available next week Head coach Pete Carroll said after Sunday's victory over the 49ers that Collins (abdomen) should be able to play in next week's game against the Texans, Curtis Crabtree of Sports R...
Impact Collins sat out Sunday for the first time since Week 1, but that could be the extent of his absence, as Carroll added that the running back "needed a week off." Collins was expected to work behind at least Adrian Peterson and possibly another back or two had he suited up Sunday, so if he does return in Week 14 it seems unlikely it will be as the starter.

DECEMBER 6, 2021 • Associated Press
Surprise scratch Sunday Collins (abdomen) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the 49ers.
Impact With Chris Carson (neck) sidelined since Week 5 and now out for the season, Collins has been the de facto lead running back for the Seahawks, averaging 13.4 touches per game over the last seven outings. Collins himself has been tending to injuries to his midsection for most of that stretch, and with the addition of Adrian Peterson this week, the team has opted to give the former the game off. There's an expectation that Peterson will serve as the lead back in his first action with Seattle, but Rashaad Penny (hamstring), DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer (calf) also are on hand to aid the backfield.
DECEMBER 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Set to lose work to Peterson Collins (abdomen), who is questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, is expected to cede duties as Seattle's lead ball carrier to Adrian Peterson even if he's active for the...
Impact Along with Rashaad Penny (hamstring) and Travis Homer (calf), Collins is one of three Seattle running backs listed as questionable for Week 13, with Peterson and DeeJay Dallas representing the lone healthy options. The decision to elevate Peterson from the practice squad implies that at least one of the four other backs will be inactive this week, but even if Collins gains clearance to play, he looks like he'll have a much smaller role than usual. Since Chris Carson (neck) suffered a season-ending injury Week 4, Collins has taken over as Seattle's de facto lead back, but he's averaging a woeful 3.6 yards per carry while catching only six passes and scoring once over the past seven contests. Penny has been even more inefficient on the few occasions he's been available this season, so the Seahawks appear content to give Peterson a look and see if he can inject some life into a dormant ground game. Expect either Homer or Dallas to replace Peterson on passing downs.

Adrian Peterson could play Sunday for Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks could elevate Adrian Peterson from the practice squad to play against San Francisco on Sunday
DECEMBER 3, 2021 • Associated Press
Questionable for Sunday Collins (abdomen) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact Fellow backs Rashaad Penny (hamstring) and Travis Homer (calf) also are listed as questionable, but both were full practice participants Friday, while Collins remained limited. On the other hand, Collins has been playing through an abdomen/groin injury for the past two months without missing a game, whereas Penny and Homer were inactive last week. DeeJay Dallas actually ended up with the most snaps among Seattle backs the past two games, replacing Homer on passing downs and then seeing extra work with the Seahawks falling behind and abandoning the run. In any case, this is the healthiest Seattle's backfield has been in weeks, and it comes right after veteran Adrian Peterson was signed to the practice squad. Collins is the incumbent lead back with six starts in the past seven games, but it's hard to say how much longer he'll keep the role after averaging a mere 3.6 yards per carry during that stretch.
DECEMBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited Thursday Collins (abdomen) was limited at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact Such is Collins' reality since Week 7, as limited listings on Seahawks injury reports eventually make way for active status on game days. During that five-game stretch, though, he's averaged just 11.2 touches for 40 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring no touchdowns. Collins will look to ditch his designation upon the release of Friday's practice report.
DECEMBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Still limited on injury report Collins was limited on Wednesday's practice estimate by an abdominal injury, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact From Weeks 7 through 11, Collins was listed with a groin issue on practice reports, but it's been the aforementioned abdominal concern that's impacted his reps the last two weeks. Since getting hurt, he's hovered between 37 and 49 percent of the offensive snaps over the last five games, but he's dominated the reps out of the backfield to the tune of 56 touches for 200 yards from scrimmage. As for Collins' position mates, Chris Carson (neck) is out for the season, while Rashaad Penny (hamstring) also was limited and Travis Homer was full Wednesday. The overall situation spurred the Seahawks to sign Adrian Peterson to the practice squad, where he'll join undrafted rookie Josh Johnson.

Seahawks sign running back Adrian Peterson to practice squad

Desperate for depth at running back, the Seattle Seahawks signed 36-year-old Adrian Peterson to their practice squad
DECEMBER 1, 2021 • Associated Press
Fumbles in loss Collins rushed seven times for 14 yards and caught his only target for 13 yards but lost a fumble in Monday night's 17-15 loss to Washington.
Impact Collins was stuffed in the running game and stripped on his lone reception of the night, making for a disappointing performance. Although backup DeeJay Dallas wasn't very productive either, he at least caught all five of his targets, helping him accumulate 31 yards from scrimmage. Seattle's banged-up backfield could offer Collins the chance to rebound in Week 13 versus the 49ers, but his mediocre play of late as well as Dallas' pass-catching utility are reasons to temper optimism over Collins' stock.
