Collin Sexton - Making first start with Conley out Sexton will start Saturday's game against the Grizzlies due to the absence of Mike Conley (rest), Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Impact Sexton has seen limited action this season -- surprising, given that he was the centerpiece of the Donovan Mitchell trade. There's been no word regarding Sexton still suffering lingering effects from his meniscus tear last season, so the only assumption we can make is that coach Will Hardy views him as a backup. Sexton has an opportunity Saturday to prove he deserves more time. Encouragingly, he's still been productive per minute, averaging 23.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per 36 minutes.

Davon Reed - Questionable Sunday Reed (personal) is questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Lakers.

Impact Reed sat out the Nuggets' most recent game due to personal reasons and remains questionable to play on Sunday. Although Reed is not a large factor in the Nuggets' rotation, his absence could give a few extra minutes to Bruce Brown and Christian Braun.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - Questionable Sunday Caldwell-Pope (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lakers.

Impact Caldwell-Pope sat out Friday's blowout win over the Jazz. Christian Braun saw 32 minutes, Bruce Brown saw 30 minutes and Bones Hyland saw 24 minutes in that matchup. That trio will presumably see bigger roles again Sunday if KCP is shelved.

Impact Gay entered the protocols Thursday, so it's not too surprising that he'll miss a second straight game Saturday after sitting out Friday's tilt. The veteran's next chance to rejoin the action surfaces Monday in a rematch with Memphis.

Simone Fontecchio - Out again Saturday Fontecchio (COVID-19 protocols) is out Saturday against the Grizzlies.

Impact As expected, Fontecchio will need more time to exit protocols. Mike Conley (rest), Rudy Gay (COVID-19 protocols) and Walker Kessler (illness) are also shelved. We could see back-end roster players like Ochai Agbaji, Leandro Bolmaro, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Udoka Azubuike get more minutes.
