Out Monday
Herro (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's contest against the Wizards, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact
As expected, Herro will be sidelined Monday as he battles soreness in his right knee. The third-year pro did say that the issue isn't a long-term deal, but it may be something that lingers for a bit. In his absence, Duncan Robinson, Max Strus (quadriceps) and Caleb Martin (Achilles) are all candidates for increased usage.

Expects to sit out Monday
Herro (knee) indicated that he expects to miss Monday's game against the Wizards, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. "I'm probably going to be out [Monday], if I had to ch...
Impact
It's still possible that Herro could make some progress and suit up Monday, but that quote certainly implies that he's anticipating missing at least one game. Schedule-wise, sitting out would make some sense, as the Heat are off Tuesday and Wednesday before resuming play Thursday in New Orleans. For now, Herro remains listed as questionable, but he looks to be trending more toward doubtful.

Dealing with knee soreness
Herro is questionable for Monday's game against the Wizards with right knee soreness.
Impact
Herro presumably picked up the injury during Saturday's win over the Hornets, when he had 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block in 29 minutes. If available Monday the 22-year-old should continue to be a key contributor off the bench for Miami.

Scores game-high 24
Herro boomed for 24 points (11-20 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Thursday's 112-95 victory over the Spurs.
Impact
Herro supplied a prominent and efficient effort. Thursday did mark a continuation of his recent cold-streak from beyond the arc, however. Herro has hit 37.8 percent of his threes this season, but is just eight-for-35 over his previous five games. Herro will look to flip that script and is a boom candidate Saturday against the Hornets.

Nightmarish shooting performance
Herro tallied 13 points (5-22 FG, 3-14 3Pt), six rebounds and four assists across 45 minutes Saturday in the Heat's 124-120 triple-overtime loss to the Raptors.
Impact
Herro, who recently missed three consecutive games while in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, made his return to action Wednesday. Though he converted 44 percent of his field-goal attempts and 44.4 percent of his three-point tries in his first two games back, the third-year guard's shooting regressed in a major way Sunday. He also turned the ball over five times in the loss, his most in a game since committing seven giveaways in a Dec. 8 win over Milwaukee. Despite the wretched performance, Herro remains in good shape to win the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award. He's averaging 20.3 points per game on the season, far and away the best mark among players who have primarily played off the bench.

Drops 21 in return
Herro contributed 21 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six rebounds and four assists across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 110-96 victory over the Knicks.
Impact
Making his return from a three-game absence, Herro did not miss a beat, as he played 33 minutes off the bench and notched his fourth 20-point effort in his last five appearances. Dating back to the start of the month, Herro is averaging 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.7 threes in January.

Available against New York
Herro (COVID-19 protocols) is available for Wednesday's game against the Knicks.
Impact
Herro's status doesn't come as a surprise since he cleared the league's health and safety protocols and was listed as probable after participating in Tuesday's practice session. Although the 22-year-old missed the last three games, he should be able to handle a relatively full workload Wednesday.

Set to return Wednesday
Herro (COVID-19 protocols) is expected to return to action Wednesday against the Knicks. He is officially probable.
Impact
Herro cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols Tuesday, with head coach Erik Spoelstra noting after the Heat's practice that Herro is on track to play. The third-year guard missed Miami's previous three games against Portland, Atlanta and the Lakers, but he shouldn't face any major restrictions with his playing time Wednesday.

Clears COVID-19 protocols
Herro cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols and practiced Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact
Herro entered COVID-19 protocols Jan. 19 and was sidelined for the following three games. The Heat have yet to release their injury report for Wednesday's contest against the Knicks, which should provide more information on Herro's conditioning status. Either way, his removal from protocols is a step in the right direction, and he should be back on the court sooner rather than later.
