Simone Fontecchio News, Rumors, Updates - Miami Heat

Sinks four triples in preseason loss Fontecchio mustered 14 points (4-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one rebound in 24 minutes during Saturday's 125-124 preseason loss to the Timberwolves.

Impact Fontecchio got the starting nod with several key contributors sidelined Saturday. The 30-year-old forward struggled mightily from two-point range but caught fire from downtown, finishing as one of five Heat players to score at least 14 points. He also led the club in three-pointers made.

Starting Saturday Fontecchio will start in Saturday's preseason game against the Timberwolves, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Impact Fontecchio is getting a spot start, with all the usual Miami starters receiving a rest day. Through nine starts last season, Fontecchio averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 triples per contest.

Scores six points in preseason Fontecchio finished with six points (2-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes during Thursday's 128-118 preseason victory over New Orleans.

Impact Fontecchio struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just one of his four attempts. The veteran forward will look to provide Miami with perimeter shooting and frontcourt depth, although competition for minutes could limit his fantasy relevance heading into the regular season.

Miami's offseason additions have created considerably more competition for minutes, and Fontecchio will have to contend with a deep group of forwards that includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Andrew Wiggins and Bobby Portis.

Charlotte and Miami meet for play-in game

The Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat hit the court in the NBA Playoffs Play-In Tournament

APRIL 14 • Associated Press

Available for Tuesday Fontecchio (ankle) is available for Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Hornets.

Impact After sitting out Sunday's regular-season finale due to left ankle soreness, Fontecchio is ready to suit back up Tuesday. Unless Pelle Larsson (leg) winds up being unavailable, Fontecchio might not see a meaningful role in the frontcourt.

APRIL 13 • ROTOWIRE

Not playing Sunday Fontecchio (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Hawks.

Impact Fontecchio drew the probable tag for Sunday's game, but his left ankle injury is more severe than initially though and will prevent him from playing against Atlanta. Myron Gardner, Kel'el Ware and Keshad Johnson are all in line for more minutes Sunday in Fontecchio's absence. Fontecchio will end his fourth NBA regular season averaging 8.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 threes over 16.8 minutes per game in 70 outings (nine starts). He will work on being cleared to return for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament clash against the Hornets.

APRIL 12 • ROTOWIRE

Downgrades to questionable Fontecchio (ankle) has been downgraded from probable to questionable for Sunday's game against the Hawks.

Impact Fontecchio is trending in the wrong direction when it comes to being available for Sunday's regular-season finale. If he's unable to play, then Myron Gardner, Kel'el Ware and Pelle Larsson would each be in line to see a bump in their minutes.

APRIL 12 • ROTOWIRE

Probable for Sunday Fontecchio is probable for Sunday's game against the Hawks due to left ankle soreness.

Impact Fontecchio is dealing with some minor soreness in his left ankle, but it's not expected to keep him out of Sunday's regular-season finale. Check back for official confirmation on his status closer to tipoff.

APRIL 11 • ROTOWIRE

Scores season-high 24 points Fontecchio totaled 24 points (8-10 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 140-117 victory over the Wizards.

Impact Fontecchio not only led the way for the Heat in this blowout win over the Wizards, but he also notched a new season-high mark in points -- his previous season-high output was 23 points in a loss to the Magic on Jan. 28. Fontecchio can be a productive player when given enough minutes, and if the Heat decide to rest their starters again Sunday ahead of facing the Hawks, Fontecchio could be in line for another big role. If he retreats to the bench, however, his fantasy upside would be severely limited.
