Excellent outing against Pacers Vassell racked up 23 points (7-15 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and two steals over 34 minutes during Friday's 137-134 win over the Pacers.

Impact Vassell delivered an improved effort compared to what he did in the season opener, showing far more efficiency than he did in the loss against the Hornets and reaching the 20-point mark just for the third time including the final weeks of the 2021-22 regular season as well. Despite the shooting woes of the season opener, Vassell has scored in double digits in his first two contests.

Impact Vassell missed all eight of his triple tries, ending with just 15 points on 3-of-15 shooting. It was certainly not the start managers had been hoping for, although it isn't all bad when looking over his box score. He was able to add four assists and one steal, both elements of his game that help to build his overall appeal. Despite the poor shooting night, he remains a strong hold in all formats.

Impact Vassell served as a starter to close out last year, and he should take on a similar role once the 2022-23 season gets underway. He took a big step last season, averaging 12.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per game, so the Spurs' decision to exercise his fourth-year option isn't particularly surprising.
