Inks extension with Hornets Miller agreed to a five-year, $209 million contract extension with Charlotte on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Impact The Hornets have already elected to exercise a $15.1 million team option for the 2026-27 season, and this deal will keep Miller in Charlotte for years to come. The 23-year-old has averaged 20-plus points in each of his last two seasons and will serve in a key role heading into the upcoming campaign.

Scores 15 points with three stocks Miller registered 15 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two assists, one steal and two blocks over 25 minutes in Friday's 117-98 preseason loss to the Grizzlies.

Impact Miller struggled with his shot over Charlotte's final two preseason games, going 8-for-29 from the floor, but he still delivered with the counting stats. Miller's shooting percentage has never been his strong suit, but he has a knack for stuffing the stat sheet and should see a large uptick in usage this season with the departure of LaMelo Ball. He'll make for a solid mid-round target on draft day.

Struggles with shot in preseason loss Miller scored 16 points (4-17 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 5-5FT) while adding five rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Celtics.

Impact With a number of key backcourt players unavailable, the Hornets went with a big starting five that shifted Miller to shooting guard while Royce O'Neale joined Naz Reid and Moussa Diabate in the frontcourt. The alignment didn't seem to suit Miller, although he did tie Tidjane Saluan for the team scoring lead. Miller heads into his fourth NBA season mainly looking to prove he can stay healthy after missing a combined 72 regular-season games over the prior two campaigns.

Impact Miller made his preseason debut Sunday after missing time with a shin contusion he suffered in practice. The 23-year-old pro matched a game-high with 18 points, albeit with mediocre efficiency. Despite struggling from the floor overall, Miller was highly effective from beyond the arc, connecting on a game-high four three-pointers.
