Won't play Wednesday Horford will come off the bench for Tuesday's preseason game against the Lakers and he will not travel to Portland for Wednesday's exhibition, Anthony Slater of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The Warriors will go with a small-ball starting lineup Tuesday, featuring Draymond Green and Yaxel Lendeborg in the post, with Horford shifting to the second unit. It's unlikely the 40-year-old veteran will earn enough consistent minutes in Golden State this season to warrant a roster spot in most fantasy leagues.

Starting Sunday Horford is in the starting lineup for Sunday's preseason matchup with the Clippers, Warriors' reporter Joseph Dycus reports.

Impact Kristaps Porzingis (illness) is out indefinitely, so Horford could open the year as the Warriors' starting center. Joining him in the first unit for Sunday's exhibition will be Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Yaxel Lendeborg and Draymond Green.

OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE

Will suit up for preseason opener Horford will play in Sunday's preseason game against the Clippers, Anthony Slater of ESPN.com reports.

Impact While Horford will be available for the preseason opener in Hawaii, head coach Steve Kerr said he will only see action in the first half and play "around 12-16 minutes." The 2007 No. 3 overall pick wasn't a routine contributor for the Warriors during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds, both career lows, along with 2.6 assists and 1.1 blocks over 21.5 minutes in 45 regular-season games. Although that is likely to remain the case in 2026-27, Horford could be tasked with an enhanced role right out of the gate, considering Kristaps Porzingis (undisclosed) might miss time to begin the year.

Could play expanded role Horford could open the season as a starter if Kristaps Porzingis (undisclosed) isn't ready for Opening Night.

Impact Horford's best fantasy days may be behind him at 40 years old, but the opportunity for a larger role exists while Porzingis is on the mend. The veteran big man provided late-round fantasy numbers as a starter last regular season, having averaged 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 blocks in 23.7 minutes per contest over 13 games in the first unit.
