Crash and DNF at Baku City Circuit Piastri crashed and finished 20th in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Baku City Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

Impact The McLaren star would have an incredibly tough day on the streets of Azerbaijan. Piastri would appear to jump the start when the lights out occurred but then he'd seemingly stall for a few moments. The field behind him would rocket past and Piastri would drop to P20 from his starting spot of ninth on the grid. He would appear to lock up in turn 5 and then crash hard into the barriers bringing out the safety car on the opening lap. Piastri's day would be finished with an early retirement and P20 finish.

Third in Italian Grand Prix Piastri finished third in the Italian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Monza Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

Impact The McLaren youngster would fall under immediate pressure from Charles Leclerc from the start and surrender P3 to him on lap 2. However, Piastri would rally back on lap 6 and overtake the Ferrari star to reclaim third-place. He would settle in and build a gap back to Leclerc and solidify his hold on P3. Piastri would pit on lap 45, one lap before Lando Norris and would get into P2 as a result of Norris' poor pit stop. Team orders would have Piastri give the spot back down the stretch and he would end up finishing third on the day. It was his series-leading 14th podium of the season.

Piastri would try to reel-in Norris over the closing laps of the race but then lapped traffic would frustrate his efforts. He'd finish just over 2.5-seconds back in P2. It was ninth podium of the season.
