Hopes for Richard Petty Return Jones recently spoke with Autoweek and indicated he would like to return to Richard Petty Motorsports next season.
Impact "I hope to return with Petty," Jones said. "We've talked about next season obviously with everything that has to be in place, but we haven't got too deep yet. I want to be in the Cup Series, and they want to continue being there too. With the Next Gen car, where I'm at now with Petty, it's a good opportunity to improve our standing." Jones is currently 25th in the point standings with two Top-10 finishes to this point. He'll look to have a strong stretch run this season so he can sign an extension with RPM.

Starting from rear Sunday Jones is starting from the rear for Sunday's Cup Series race at COTA for unapproved adjustments with his No. 43 Chevrolet, Jim Utter of Motorsport.com reports.
Impact Nearly a quarter of the group is being penalized for unapproved adjustments, as Jones is one of nine drivers starting from the rear Sunday. He had initially qualified for 29th so his push to the back won't be a huge difference in where he would've started in the first place.

Starting from rear Sunday Jones will begin Sunday's Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway from the rear after failing multiple tech inspections with his No. 43 Chevrolet, Bob reports.
Impact Jones didn't have a great starting position to begin with so his demotion to the rear likely won't pose a major effect on the outcome of Sunday's race. He finished 27 at Talladega last weekend and should be in line for a similar result.
