Ninth-Place in Dixie Vodka 400
Bowman overcame starting in the rear of the field to finish ninth in the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday afternoon, hendrickmotorsports.com reports.
Impact
Bowman's No. 48 Chevrolet had an inspection issue during pre-race and had to forfeit their 13th-place on the starting grid. The veteran driver showed patience and composure to race into fifth-place by the end of stage 1. From there he'd be a Top-10 driver most of the event. Bowman would peddle hard to finish ninth by lap 267 and the checkered flag. It was his second Top-10 finish of the season.

Starting in rear
Bowman will have to start from the rear of the field in Sunday's Dixie Vodka 400 because of unapproved adjustments with his No. 88 Chevrolet, Jim Utter of Motorsport.com reports.
Impact
Bowman could be in line for another lackluster finish after he placed 35th at the Daytona 500 two weeks ago after he was involved in a big crash and could not recover despite winning pole position for the race. He did end up in 10th last weekend after starting in 36th so there's hope that he can push his way up again Sunday afternoon.

Crash and DNF at Daytona
Bowman crashed and finished 35th in the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway Sunday night.
Impact
Bowman had hopes for a big Daytona 500 performance. His No. 48 Chevrolet had won the pole position on Wednesday, but was starting at the rear of the field after his Duel race crash. Unfortunately, his luck would not improve in the Great American Race. An incident between Christopher Bell and Aric Almirola would send the No. 10 Ford careening into the side of Bowman's machine on lap 14. The big crash would involve 16 drivers and retire Bowman as well as other to the garage for the day. The DNF was his first at Daytona in 10-career starts.

Engine Issues in Daytona Duel
Bowman would battle engine issues and finish 20th in the Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1 for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway Thursday night.
Impact
The thrill of winning the pole position for the Daytona 500 was quickly dampened by the No. 48 team's poor performance in the Daytona Duel 1. Bowman would start among the leaders but would quickly encountered some mechanical issue with his engine. A couple unscheduled stops on pit road would lead to him finishing a distant 20th-place, 4-laps down to the leaders. Fortunately, Bowman is locked into the pole position, but he may have to yield that spot if the team chooses to change engines as a result of the problems they encountered Thursday night.
