From there the McLaren star would stretch out his gap to second-place and was able to comfortably pit on lap 34 and retain the lead over Verstappen. Norris would then race out to an eventual 30-second victory over Leclerc. It was his sixth win of the season.

Impact After some struggles this weekend, Norris seemed to get things righted before pole qualifying. The McLaren star would set the pace in Q2 and easily advance into the final round. In the closing seconds Norris would post a jaw-dropping lap of 1:15.596 to beat out Leclerc by more than two-tenths. It was his fifth pole of the season and 14th-career pole position. Norris will start P1 Sunday in Mexico City and be the driver to beat at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Impact The McLarens hadn't shown much speed to this point in the weekend in Mexico. It was reassuring to see Norris log a strong lap of 1:16.633 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the session during mock qualifying runs. The lap was the best of the weekend and beat out Hamilton by three-tenths. Norris hasn't won a grand prix in his last five attempts and will be looking to raise the trophy Sunday in Mexico City.

Norris would make a brilliant overtake of him again on lap 51 in order to secure an impressive runner-up finish in Austin. It was his 15th podium of the season.

Norris looks like a strong contender to win Saturday's Sprint and challenger to win Sunday's United States Grand Prix.

Impact Norris had an eventful grand prix on Sunday in Singapore. He'd jump from P5 to P3 in the opening moments but not without making contact with the rear of Max Verstappen and side contact with teammate, Oscar Piastri. His McLaren would suffer end-plate damage on the front wing but he would continue on without repairs having moved into third-place. Norris would pit on lap 26 and while it wouldn't help him in pursuit of Verstappen it would help build a gap back to Piastri. He would challenge the Red Bull star in the closing laps but would fall sixth-tenths short at the checkered flag for P3.

Frustrating P7 in Baku Norris finished seventh in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Baku City Circuit on Sunday afternoon.
Impact Norris would qualify an uncharacteristic P7 for the Azerbaijan GP. That would effectively mire him in a mid-pack battle all afternoon at the Baku City Circuit. Norris would battle in the early laps with Charles Leclerc and would eventually pit on lap 37 for fresh tyres. He'd rejoin the action caught in the middle of a DRS train that would see heated contests between P4 and P8. Norris would try for several laps to overtake Yuki Tsunoda but with no success. He'd have to settle for P7 and what little points he could make up on the early retirement of Oscar Piastri.

Impact Norris would rebound from his collision with the barriers on Friday to set the fastest pace in FP3 at the Baku Street Circuit on Saturday. He'd post a strong lap of 1:41.223 and beat Verstappen by two-tenths to lead this final session ahead of pole qualifying. Norris has shown good pace and has the car to win Sunday in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Impact After leading the opening session of the day, Norris would run into some problems in this second free practice at Baku. Mid-way through the session and after initially posting the fastest lap, the McLaren star would strike the barriers on the exit of turn 4. His car would suffer extensive left-rear damage but Norris would be able to limp back to his pit area. Norris would remain in his garage for the remainder of the session as the team conducted repairs. He'll look to bounce back in Saturday's qualifying session for the Azerbaijan GP.

Impact Cloudy but warm conditions would greet the drivers for this opening practice in Azerbaijan. Things would get rolling quickly and teams would set about getting practice laps in before Carlos Sainz would run over some curbing and dislodge it. That would bring out a lengthy red-flag for track repairs. Once action resumed, the lap times would tumble and Norris would eventually log a time of 1:42.704 which would be conservative but still three-tenths faster than Piastri. McLaren seems to have the pace after one practice in the books and we'll see if that holds up in FP2 later Friday.

Impact The McLaren star would battle wheel-to-wheel with Max Verstappen after the lights out and briefly take the lead from the Red Bull Racing star. Norris would only hold P1 until lap 4 when Verstappen would get back past him for the lead. From there Norris would settle into P2 for most of the way. He would inherit the lead for 9 laps late in the grand prix during Verstappen's pit stop but would had the lead back later during his own. The stop for Norris was slow and that would seal his fate. Team orders would give P2 back to Norris from Oscar Piastri and that would be where he'd finish his day at Monza.
