He pitted on lap 21 under the VSC but it ended very quickly and Ocon got no advantage from it. Additionally, the stop would be slow due to a problem with the rear right tyre change. That would make retaking ground problematic but the Haas F1 veteran would claw his way up to P13 by the conclusion of the grand prix.

P16 at Red Bull Ring Ocon finished 16th in the Austrian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on Sunday afternoon.

Impact Despite a fast start and surging from P15 to P11 in the opening laps, Ocon would deal with a lack of downforce all day at the Red Bull Ring. The lack of downforce would exaggerate his tyre wear issues and that combined with poor pit strategy would doom Ocon to the rear of the field. The lack of pace would mean George Russell would lap him twice during the event and the Haas F1 veteran would finish a distant and disappointing 16th-place in Austria.

He would suffer from severe tyre degradation and have to adopt a three-stop strategy to deal with tyre wear. In the late stages of the race Ocon would look locked into a P15 finish. Not pitting under the earlier safety car limited his ability to gain positions on pit lane. Ocon would then battle most of the way with Gabriel Bortoleto before losing a position to him on lap 45. The Haas F1 veteran would finish one lap down to the leader in P13 in Miami.

Impact Ocon would start from P12 on medium tyres and would climb as high as ninth-place by lap 6. Impact Ocon would line up P16 on the starting grid and he'd get around Yuki Tsunoda on the first lap.
