Patrick Corbin - Suffers 12th loss Corbin (2-12) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings against the Giants. He struck out six.
Impact Things went awry for the veteran southpaw out the gate, as he allowed a leadoff 416-foot homer to Tyler Fitzgerald. Corbin allowed another homer of the three-run variety to Matt Chapman in the third inning, cementing his 12th loss, tying him for the most in the league. It's been another rough season for the 35-year-old, as he now sports a 5.88 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 127 innings on the year. Corbin is currently scheduled to face the Angels at home in his next start this weekend.

Giants vs. Nationals Prediction, Odds, Picks - August 6
Joey Gallo - Rehab assignment beginning Gallo (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Gallo participated in on-field work over the weekend and his hamstring held up well enough to send him out on a rehab assignment. The team plans to play Gallo at first base for five Tuesday, have him DH a full game Wednesday and play five to seven innings in right field Thursday. It's unclear if the Nationals plan on activating Gallo afterward, or if he'll require more minor-league contests. Even when healthy, Gallo may not be an everyday member of the lineup, with Juan Yepez and Alex Call excelling at first base and right field, respectively.

Trey Lipscomb - On bench Monday Lipscomb is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Lipscomb will get a chance to clear his head after going 0-for-7 in his last three starts. Ildemaro Vargas will bat eighth and play third base Monday.

James Wood - Drives in three Sunday Wood went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Brewers.
Impact The rookie produced the game-winning hit when he dropped a bases-loaded triple down the left-field line in the sixth inning off southpaw Hoby Milner. Wood has hit safely in seven of the last eight games, batting .414 (12-for-29) over that stretch with six walks, two doubles, two triples, a steal, six runs and seven RBI.

Trevor Williams - Not yet ready for mound work Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Friday that Williams (elbow) remains limited to throwing off flat ground, adding that it will "be a while" before the right-hander gets back on...
Impact Despite not heading into spring training with a guaranteed rotation spot, Williams was one of the Nationals' top pitchers over the first two months of the season, accruing a 2.22 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across his 11 starts. He was then diagnosed with a right flexor muscle strain in early June and has struggled to shake off the injury, as he's still not progressed to mound work two months later. Even if Williams is given the green light to throw bullpen sessions within the next few days, he'll still need several weeks to get fully stretched back out for starting duty. Williams doesn't look like he'll be a realistic option for the Washington rotation until September, and he might be brought back as a reliever if his rehab process remains slow over the next few weeks.

Joey Gallo - Closing in on rehab assignment Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Friday that Gallo (hamstring) could be cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment later this week, MLB.com reports.
Impact Washington had planned for Gallo to take reps at first base and in right field over the weekend, and if his left hamstring responded well to the defensive work, he'll likely get the green light to report to a minor-league affiliate. Gallo has been on the shelf since June 12 with the hamstring strain, so he'll likely need multiple games in the minors to regain his timing at the plate before making his return from the 10-day injured list. Juan Yepez and Alex Call are currently serving as the Nationals' primary options at first base and right field, respectively, but both have fared well during their latest stints in the big leagues. If Washington wants to keep carving out regular playing time Yepez and Call once Gallo returns, the Nationals could look to use Gallo at designated hitter, where the lefty-hitting Travis Blankenhorn has been filling the strong side of a platoon lately.

Luis García - Stays hot Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.
Impact Garcia launched a solo home run off Tobias Myers in the first inning, giving the second baseman his second homer in as many nights. Garcia finishes the three-game series with Milwaukee 8-for-12 with two home runs, five runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. He has a .783 OPS in 369 plate appearances this season.

Kyle Finnegan - Hits 30-save mark Finnegan picked up the save Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing one hit and no walks across a scoreless ninth inning. He didn't register a strikeout.
Impact Finnegan became the third closer to reach 30 saves, joining Emmanuel Clase and Ryan Helsley atop the leaderboard. Despite yielding a leadoff single to Rhys Hoskins, Finnegan kept the Brewers from putting a runner in scoring position, getting Blake Perkins to fly out and Brice Turang to ground into a double play. In 46.1 innings, Finnegan has generated a 3.30 ERA with a 45:14 K:BB.
AUGUST 5, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Mitchell Parker - Blanks Brewers Parker (6-6) picked up the win Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts across six scoreless innings.
Impact Parker fired his first scoreless start since April, shutting down the Brewers to pick up his first win in eight starts. The outing avenged Parker's poor showing against Milwaukee on July 13 when he allowed five runs in two-thirds of an inning before being yanked. The rookie left-hander has struggled after logging a 3.06 ERA across his first 12 starts, stumbling to a 5.82 ERA in 38.2 innings since. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Friday against the Angels.

Harold Ramírez - On bench again Sunday Ramirez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Ramirez has a .908 OPS in 30 at-bats since the All-Star break but will sit Sunday for the second consecutive game. Travis Blankenhorn will receive another turn at designated hitter against Milwaukee righty Tobias Myers.
AUGUST 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Travis Blankenhorn - Gaining traction in lineup Blankenhorn will serve as the Nationals' designated hitter and No. 6 batter in Sunday's game against the Brewers.
Impact Blankenhorn didn't crack the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks after being called up from Triple-A Rochester earlier that day, but he's now entered the starting nine in four consecutive contests -- all against right-handed pitching. The lefty-hitting Blankenhorn looks like he'll occupy the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter with the righty-hitting Harold Ramirez, who will head to the bench for a second straight contest. Blankenhorn has gone 1-for-10 with two RBI and one run through his first four games with Washington, but he had been a standout performer for Rochester, with whom he produced an .846 OPS in 401 plate appearances prior to his promotion.
