Embarking on rehab assignment Peralta (thigh) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Friday.

Impact Peralta has been on the shelf since July 9 due to a left adductor strain and was cleared to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment after throwing a live batting practice session Tuesday. It's unclear how many rehab outings he'll need before being reinstated from the 15-day IL.

Impact Peralta was cleared for mound work earlier this week, and he has now quickly progressed to facing live hitters. He remains without a firm timeline for a return to San Diego, it shouldn't take him too long to build back up as a reliever. The 33-year-old had put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 34 innings prior to landing on the injured list in July.

Impact Peralta has been on the 15-day injured list since July 12 due to a left adductor strain. It's not clear how much longer the veteran reliever will be out, but manager Mike Shildt indicated recently that Peralta is "in a good place." Prior to being sidelined, Peralta posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 34 innings while notching two wins and 11 holds across 41 appearances.

IL move official The Padres placed Peralta on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 10, with a left adductor strain.

Impact Peralta sustained the groin strain during an appearance against Seattle on Tuesday and hasn't pitched since. His move to the IL opens up a spot on the active roster for Sean Reynolds. Peralta will be eligible to return in late July.

Removed with groin injury Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to an apparent groin injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Peralta winced and grabbed at his groin immediately after making a pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest, resulting in him exiting alongside a trainer. He'll presumably undergo imaging in the Padres' clubhouse to determine the nature/severity of his injury, and the team should provide an update shortly after the game.

Falters in extra-inning loss Peralta (2-2) didn't retire a batter and took the loss against Arizona on Saturday. He entered in the 10th frame and allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk.

Impact Peralta took the ball in the top of the 10th and quickly loaded the bases, giving up a bunt single and a walk to the first two batters he faced. Christian Walker followed with a two-run single, which resulted in Peralta getting the hook.
