Continues strong start to season Peralta struck out one batter in a perfect inning against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Impact Peralta needed just nine pitches to set the A's down in order, and eight of those offerings were strikes. The veteran lefty has yet to give up a run over 6.1 innings this season, and he's yielded just one hit while posting a 4:1 K:BB. Peralta has entered in the seventh inning or later in each of his seven appearances, and while he has just one hold to date, he's also recorded a pair of wins. Robert Suarez has a stranglehold on the Padres' closer role, but Peralta could have some use in fantasy leagues that count holds if he continues to pitch well and get late-game opportunities.

Wandy Peralta exercises option with Padres. Ha-Seong Kim declines

Left-hander Wandy Peralta has exercised his $4.25 million option to remain with the San Diego Padres
NOVEMBER 5, 2024 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Staying in San Diego Peralta exercised his $4.25 million player option for 2025 on Saturday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Peralta turned in a 3.99 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 38.1 frames in 2024, and he'll now receive a $900,000 raise by accepting the first of three player options on his deal with the Padres. He will presumably continue to be used in high-leverage situations.

Moves rehab to Double-A Peralta (thigh) had his minor-league rehab assignment moved from Single-A Lake Elsinore to Double-A San Antonio on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Peralta logged a perfect inning with one strikeout in his first appearance with San Antonio on Friday. It was the veteran reliever's third minor-league rehab outing overall, and he's thus far pitched 3.1 scoreless frames while posting a 3:1 K:BB. Peralta's return to the Padres' bullpen could be imminent.

Embarking on rehab assignment Peralta (thigh) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Friday.
Impact Peralta has been on the shelf since July 9 due to a left adductor strain and was cleared to kick off a rehab stint after throwing a live batting practice session Tuesday. It's unclear how many rehab outings he'll need before being reinstated from the 15-day IL, but the reliever could rejoin the Padres before the end of the month.

Faces hitters Tuesday Peralta (thigh) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Peralta was cleared for mound work earlier this week, and he has now quickly progressed to facing live hitters. He remains without a firm timeline for a return to San Diego, it shouldn't take him too long to build back up as a reliever. The 33-year-old had put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 34 innings prior to landing on the injured list in July.
AUGUST 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Resumes mound work Peralta (thigh) has been throwing off a mound, per MLB.com.
Impact Peralta has been on the 15-day injured list since July 12 due to a left adductor strain. It's not clear how much longer the veteran reliever will be out, but manager Mike Shildt indicated recently that Peralta is "in a good place." Prior to being sidelined, Peralta posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 34 innings while notching two wins and 11 holds across 41 appearances.
AUGUST 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
IL move official The Padres placed Peralta on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 10, with a left adductor strain.
Impact Peralta sustained the groin strain during an appearance against Seattle on Tuesday and hasn't pitched since. His move to the IL opens up a spot on the active roster for Sean Reynolds. Peralta will be eligible to return in late July.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Heading to IL Peralta (groin) will be placed on the injured list, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners with what appeared to be a left groin strain and is expected to require a stint on the injured list. The 32-year-old has a 4.50 ERA across 34.0 innings. Sean Reynolds is expected to be called up to take Peralta's place on the active roster.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Removed with groin injury Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to an apparent groin injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact Peralta winced and grabbed at his groin immediately after making a pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest, resulting in him exiting alongside a trainer. He'll presumably undergo imaging in the Padres' clubhouse to determine the nature/severity of his injury, and the team should provide an update shortly after the game.

Falters in extra-inning loss Peralta (2-2) didn't retire a batter and took the loss against Arizona on Saturday. He entered in the 10th frame and allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and one walk.
Impact Peralta took the ball in the top of the 10th and quickly loaded the bases, giving up a bunt single and a walk to the first two batters he faced. Christian Walker followed with a two-run single, which resulted in Peralta getting the hook. Another run scored following the left-hander's departure, and San Diego couldn't come back in the bottom of the frame. After posting a sub-3.00 ERA in each of his previous two seasons while with the Yankees, Peralta is at a 4.32 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 33.1 innings this year.
